Job summary

CalPortland in Oro Grande, CA, is seeking a salaried Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the plant's mechanical equipment and a team of hourly workers. You will plan, assign tasks, diagnose issues using blueprints and repair manuals, and manage SAP purchase orders and work orders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance of mechanical equipment including bucket elevators, unloaders, conveyor belts, and cement dome reclamation system.
  • Assign job tasks to hourly workforce.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints and repair manuals.
  • SAP responsibilities, purchase order creation, release and tracking, and maintenance of work orders.
  • Maintain critical parts inventory, part ordering, and inventory control.
  • Assist in planning, fabrication, and completion of improvements and projects.
  • Ensure high quality of service to all customers, reliable operation of all plant equipment and the efficient use of labor and facilities to optimize the cost of the operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local labor, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Develop an operating budget; track operating costs and look for ways to improve costs without sacrificing safety or service.
  • Develop and implement successful training programs for personnel.
  • Participate in the hiring process and identify talent for openings.
  • Monitor and approve timekeeping for assigned employees.
  • Assist / Develop / Manage – Annual Kiln Reline Budget(s) and Scheduled Finish Mill Outage Budget(s).
  • Support / Implement – Predictive Technology Activities and resulting Countermeasures.
  • Participate in Weekend On-call Rotation Program.
  • Support Plant Wide Safety Projects and Initiatives.
  • Develop reliable third-party contractor, vendor, and supplier opportunities.
  • Support / Manage / Update existing mechanical PM Program.
  • Administer, as necessary employee discipline.

Preferred

  • Working knowledge of SAP Production.
  • Experience working with a union contract.
  • Understanding of California state labor laws related to wage and hour.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or cement facility.
Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
