Job summary

Owens Corning is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor in Laurel, MS to lead maintenance activities at the Components facility. You will leverage SAP and CMMS to plan work orders, manage budgets, and ensure equipment reliability while fostering a strong EHS culture.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of SAP data budgeting, labor tracking, and cost control.
  • Hands-on CMMS work order planning, scheduling, and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain world-class safety and housekeeping standards across the facility.
  • Maximize plant uptime by eliminating equipment downtime through proactive maintenance.
  • Develop and execute Preventive Maintenance programs to improve reliability.
  • Schedule and direct planned shutdowns in coordination with operations and planning teams.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of 20–40 hourly maintenance craftspersons.
  • Own the maintenance budget for labor and materials (approx. $1M annually).
  • Drive cost-reduction initiatives and perform root-cause analysis for plant issues.

Maintenance Supervisor
Job Purpose

The Maintenance Supervisor provides strategic leadership, planning, and execution for all maintenance activities within the Components facility. This role acts as a critical bridge between maintenance and operations, leveraging SAP and CMMS platforms to drive equipment reliability and ensure the plant safely achieves its net productivity goals. The Supervisor champions an environmental, health, and safety (EHS) culture while optimizing resources, budgets, and digital workflows.

Core Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Safety & Environmental Health (EHS)
  • Culture: Maintain world-class safety and housekeeping standards across the facility.
  • Compliance: Ensure 100% compliance with corporate and regulatory EHS policies.
  • Training: Deliver safety information, facilitate meetings, and coordinate ongoing safety training for personnel.
Operational Excellence & Equipment Reliability
  • Uptime: Maximize plant utilization by eliminating equipment downtime through proactive maintenance.
  • PM Programs: Establish, plan, and execute robust Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs.
  • Outage Management: Schedule and direct planned shutdowns in coordination with operations and planning teams.
Systems & Asset Management
  • SAP Data: Utilize SAP for accurate budgeting, labor tracking, purchase requisitions, and material/cost control.
  • CMMS Optimization: Own the CMMS workflow, ensuring work orders are properly planned, scheduled, executed, and documented.
  • Metrics: Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) via CMMS/SAP to continuously improve maintenance efficiency.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Supervision: Directly lead, mentor, and supervise a team of 20 to 40 hourly maintenance craftspersons.
  • Talent Management: Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop qualified technicians to build a highly dependable team.
  • Employee Relations: Manage daily workforce schedules, performance management, coaching, and accountability.
Financial Accountability & Continuous Improvement
  • Fiscal Control: Own the area maintenance budget for labor and materials, totaling approximately $1 million annually.
  • Cost Reduction: Develop and execute cost-reduction initiatives to improve plant operational efficiency.
  • Problem Solving: Conduct root-cause analysis for repetitive equipment issues, manpower gaps, and budget variances.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
  • Minimum Requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Associate or Bachelor's degree, or formal Trade School certification in electrical, mechanical, or related technical crafts.
Experience
  • Technical Background: 6+ years of relevant industrial maintenance experience.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of supervised leadership in a manufacturing environment, with deep functional knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Systems Expertise: Hands-on experience navigating SAP and managing data entry/scheduling within a CMMS environment.
