Job summary

Martinrea is seeking a Maintenance shift supervisor for the 2nd shift to lead the Maintenance department, supervise staff, and ensure reliable equipment performance. The role requires strong leadership, a hands-on approach, and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities include planning, coordinating with contractors, and driving continuous improvement in throughput and efficiency while maintaining a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• College courses in Maintenance related discipline; Millwright or Electrical certificate of qualification preferred.
• Strong communicator in English, both written and oral.
• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in Maintenance in industry.
• Experience in welding facility.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• High level of time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to lead a team.
• Strong technical and problem solving skills.
• Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, develop and evaluate Maintenance department staff.
• Oversee PM program and production coordination to minimize downtime.
• Ensure equipment and tools are maintained to avoid production interruptions.
• Analyze machine downtime to identify and fix mechanical problems.
• Coordinate with outside contractors for repairs and upgrades.
• Provide input on CI projects and stand in for Maintenance Manager when needed.
• Plan and control labor, overtime, equipment and travel for Maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, develop and conduct evaluations of the Maintenance department
• Supervise maintenance related functions:
• PM program/ schedule that ensures machine robustness along with the coordination of production schedule needs
• Ensure all equipment and tools are maintained properly to avoid interruption of production and to minimize unnecessary downtime
• Analyze machine downtime to identify and correct mechanical problems
• Ensure availability of replacement parts for key manufacturing equipment to minimize unnecessary machine downtime
• Maintain maintenance related records
• To co-ordinate with outside contractors on equipment repairs and to source the most effective repairs and upgrades cost
• Provide input and ensure completion of CI projects
• Able to stand in for Maintenance Manager in absence
• Ensure proper planning and control for all areas of responsibility in Maintenance department (e.g. labor, overtime, equipment, travel, etc).
• Maintains clear written records
• Creates and ensures a safe and secure work environment
• Achieve goals and objectives that are set out each year by the Maintenance Manager
• Contribute to ongoing improvements to throughput, inventory and operational expense.
