Job summary

Canfor is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for our DeRidder sawmill in DeRidder, LA. You will lead maintenance crews, balance production needs with maintenance, and be accountable for safety and cost targets.

The role reports to the Maintenance Superintendent and focuses on driving operational excellence through preventative maintenance and safe, efficient work practices in a lumber manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of maintenance and leadership experience in industrial manufacturing.
• 10 years of experience as a maintenance or electrical technician or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of an electronic-based maintenance program would be an asset.
• Knowledge or experience in lumber manufacturing is considered an asset.

• Provide direction and support to reports and foster effective working relationships with all employees.
• Assist in developing and achieving targets in safety, quality, cost, and delivery and employee engagement.
• Supervise and provide leadership in safety, quality, cost, delivery and employee engagement.
• Ensure the preventative maintenance program is developed and followed and that cost targets are within budget.
• Coordinate the planned work of crews to meet maintenance and production targets and quality standards.
• Maintain high standards of work performance and correct behavior as required.
• Plan and implement daily and weekly preventative maintenance work lists and duties.
