Job description

Job Purpose and Responsibilities

Assists the Park Manager with the overall maintenance activities of Pine Island State Park, including grounds and facilities upkeep, and supervising assigned staff.

1. Coordinates short-term and long-term park maintenance planning and implementation following established guidelines. Plans and schedules daily maintenance activities and participates in specialized work projects to ensure timely completion.
2. Performs clean-up and housekeeping activities to maintain the attractiveness, cleanliness, and safety of park grounds and facilities.
3. Assists with park operations by completing forms and reports, and managing the ordering and stocking of repair and cleaning supplies.
4. Directs or performs repairs on motorized equipment such as pumps, mowers, weed eaters, park vehicles, carts, shuttles, chainsaws, woodworking equipment, and hand tools.
5. Engages in continuous public relations activities.
6. Supervises assigned employees, including training, scheduling, and conducting performance evaluations.
7. Promotes teamwork within the State Park Service and represents the office on agency teams throughout the year.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of experience in building and grounds maintenance.

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to perform medium to heavy lifting, walking, standing on uneven terrain, crawling, and working at heights. Exposure to weather, cleaning agents, and maintenance tools. Must work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Licensed or competent in electrical, plumbing, and carpentry trades. Ability to read and understand written procedures, blueprints, and write material specifications.
• Must possess a valid South Carolina driver license.

Actual Job Location: Pine Island State Park.

Full-time, 40 hours per week, rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
