Job summary

Superior Essex Communications in Brownwood, TX is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to direct and coordinate activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance and installation of machines, tools, equipment and building systems.

You will supervise 3–25 staff, interview, hire and train, plan workloads, review reports, develop preventive maintenance programs, and collaborate with engineering and production to improve operations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with eight to ten years related experience and/or training.
• Technical school is desirable.
• Directly supervises 3–25 employees in the maintenance section.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance and installation of machines, tools, equipment and in the maintenance of buildings, grounds and utility systems of the plant.
• Review job orders to determine work priorities and schedule repairs to ensure continuous production operations.
• Coordinate activities to fabricate or modify machines and equipment to manufacture or improve products.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs with engineering and maintenance staff.
• Review reports to plan maintenance, inspect equipment, and propose improvements.
• Direct training and indoctrination of workers and resolve maintenance problems with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

Direct and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance and installation of machines, tools, equipment and in the maintenance of buildings, grounds and utility systems of the plant by performing the following duties personally or through employees

• Reviews job orders to determine work priorities. Schedules repairs, maintenance and installation of machines, tools and equipment to ensure continuous production operations
• Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products
• Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas or air required for operations
• Develops preventive maintenance programs in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff
• Reviews production, quality control and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities
• Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards
• Plans, develops and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs and effect greater utilization of labor and materials
• Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers
• Requisitions tools, equipment and supplies required for operations
• Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures
• Confers with management, engineering, production and quality assurance personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment
