Job summary

Ledcor Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Superintendent for our Mining team in Idaho. The role focuses on mobile equipment maintenance execution, safety, cost control, and effective field leadership to ensure projects meet timelines and budgets.

You will drive maintenance KPI achievement, deploy safety standards, and manage contractors and field staff across varying sites while solving problems with innovative solutions.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in maintenance leadership roles in heavy industry.
  • Experience compiling and managing maintenance budgets.
  • Experience managing maintenance scheduling and workflow.
  • Familiarity with zero-based budgeting processes.
  • Experience with equipment reliability programs.
  • Strong safety record and ability to lead diverse teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee safety performance of the Maintenance Department and meet KPIs.
  • Deploy initiatives and communicate with maintenance crews on site.
  • Promote and comply with safety, health, and environmental policies.
  • Spend 60–80% of time in the field providing leadership.
  • Provide a safe work environment with training and supervision.
  • Develop systems to meet monthly department targets and manage costs.
  • Review contractor scopes and rates to control costs.

Description

You are an experienced Superintendent, fully competent in your profession. You will be responsible for Mobile Equipment maintenance execution - ensuring standards, policies and procedures are developed and implemented. You will also be accountable for ensuring that all equipment performance targets and work management KPIs are achieved within the constraints of the maintenance budget, including quality control; safety, and the delegation of work to field staff, contractors and trades people ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. You are a problem solver and continuously look for innovative solutions that can be utilized on projects.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Safety performance of the Maintenance Department. Meet or exceed established KPI’s (leading and lagging indicators)
  • Ensure deployment of key initiatives and communication of relevant messages to all maintenance crews at site
  • Effectively promote, deploy, and comply with all Safety & Health and Environmental policies, standards, procedures and regulations across Ledcor and Maintenance
  • Spend significant time in the field – “visible felt leadership” – interacting with the workforce, ~60 - 80% of working time
  • Provide employees with a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring provision of safe systems of work; safe work procedures; adequate training and instruction; competent supervision
  • Develop systems and foster the required collaboration to ensure the department meets monthly targets
  • Accountable for Maintenance cost performance, including monthly forecast and variance analysis
  • Review competencies, Scopes of Work and Schedules of Rates for all Contractors ensuring costs are managed and controlled while complying with Contractor Controls Policies and Procedures
Qualifications
  • 5+ years in a Maintenance General Foreman level or higher experience in heavy industry
  • 2+ years experience in compiling and/or managing maintenance budgets
  • 2+ years management of the maintenance scheduling and workflow function
  • Experience with Zero-Based Budgeting systems and processes
  • Experience managing or supervising an equipment reliability program
  • A strong safety record and the ability to work with a variety of individuals
  • Ability to adapt information and communication style to the audience
  • Skilled at promoting teamwork to establish consensus among team and stakeholders
  • Capable of identifying key issues and patterns in moderately complex situations and spotting new, less obvious solutions
  • Familiar with mining/heavy civil/infrastructure construction methodology and practices
Work Conditions
  • Rotational FIFO. This role may require up to 100% travel based on location
  • Site based position with significant time in the field
