Job summary

Pilgrim in Omaha, Nebraska seeks a seasoned Maintenance/Plant Supervisor to lead engineering and maintenance of plant equipment, facilities, and systems. You'll direct a team of technicians, oversee budgets, and drive safety and efficiency on the production floor.

Responsibilities include planning and tracking preventive maintenance, coordinating capital projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and collaborating with operations to maximize asset uptime and cost effectiveness.

Qualifications

• 5 years of management experience and at least 5 years of maintenance experience.
• Extensive experience maintaining building services and systems using contractors and staff.
• Experience with health and safety standards; PMP and HACCP are assets.
• Experience with quality improvement and risk management processes.

Responsibilities

• Supervises workers who install, service, and repair mechanical equipment.
• Directs manufacturing and maintenance operations to maximize return on assets.
• Prepares and manages maintenance budgets and controls expenditures.
• Ensures safety compliance for buildings, equipment, and staff.
• Mentors technical and administrative staff with approximately 3 direct reports and 19 indirect reports.
• Monitors maintenance KPIs and environmental and energy initiatives.
• Plans weekly maintenance schedules and coordinates capital projects.
• Collaborates with operations for smooth operation of production floor.

Job description

• Supervises workers engaged in installing, servicing, and repairing mechanical equipment. Supervises employees who maintain, repair and service plant equipment, buildings, and facilities
• Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing and maintenance operations to ensure the most effective return on assets
• Initiate plans and processes to minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, fac ilities, materials and capital
• Utilizes working knowledge of electrical systems, both control and industrial wiring, pip fitting, plumbing, welding, shop machinery, sheet metal, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls and instrumentation to maintain plant equipment at optimal level.
• Utilizes knowledge of automatic equipment operation to inclu de setup, repair and tear down in order to maintain plant equipment at optimal levels, inspecting completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
• Maintain the plant Preventative Maintenance Records.
• Send out maintenance schedules on a weekly basis
• Responsible for all physical plant facil ities, systems and equipment
• Identify and monitor issues as they arise and implement solutions
• Prepare engineering and m aintenance d epartment al operating budgets and control expenditures within approved budgets
• Responsible for supervising both minor and major capital projects
• Participate in the ongoing support of the Processing Operating System
• Manage m aintenance KPI expectations, environm ental and energy initiatives
• Mentor and supervise the activities of technical and administr ative staff with appro ximately 3 direct
  reports and 19 indirect reports as well as e xternal service providers
• Ensure safety compliance for buildings, equipment and staff
• Interprets company policy to employees and enforces company policy and practices.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists employees in solving work problems.
• Maintains production equipment in a manner that meets organization standards and ensures minimum equipment downtime. Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies
• Contributes to the on-going development of JBS Omaha’s policies and procedures;
• Collaborate with operations for smooth operation of production floor.

Experience Required:

• 5 years’ management experience and minimum 5 year s maintenance experience preferably in a food processing plant, but experience in a highly regulated large industrial or manufacturing environment will be considered
• Extensive experience maintaining & managing building services/syste ms using contractors & staff
• Experience with WHMIS, Health & Safety; PMP and H ACCP an asset
• Experience with quality improvement and risk management processes an asset
• High School Diploma/GED equivalent preferred but not required, college degree preferred but not required

Skills/Abilities Required

• Must have a working knowledge of preventative maintenance, Powerhouse, facilities, equipment, machinery, refrigeration, pipe fitting, plumbing, welding, ship machinery, sheet metal, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls and instrumentation and PLC controls in a l ean manufacturing environment
• Proven knowledge of building & fire cod es, health & safety standards
• Demonstrated understanding of fiscal management principles including interpretation of financial statements, budget planning and variance control
• S tron g computer skills (systems, M S Office , and others )
• Must be capable of becoming Haz-Mat team qualified
• Proven leadership and people management skills in a high paced, multicultural environment
