Job Description

Under the leadership of the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for managing all maintenance staff and resources to support manufacturing operations. This includes leading preventative maintenance programs, continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring safety, adhering to GMP standards, and fostering good employee relations. Key elements for success include safety, electro-mechanical skills, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Job Hazard Analysis and safety compliance
  2. Purchase of spare parts using the PO system
  3. Perform mechanical, electrical, pipefitting, and rigging duties
  4. Train personnel in safety and operational techniques
  5. Execute maintenance plans according to schedule
  6. Prioritize shift work and effectively assign resources
  7. Ensure safety compliance and OSHA regulations
  8. Provide resources and training for safe work practices
  9. Identify and eliminate environmental, safety, and GMP hazards
  10. Address employee concerns, maintain communication and morale
  11. Develop employee proficiency and improve maintenance performance
  12. Recognize and reinforce good performance and safety
  13. Maintain discipline and document behavioral issues
  14. Develop maintenance staff and engage in training
  15. Manage employee performance, retention, and development
  16. Apply troubleshooting skills for root cause analysis
  17. Utilize mechanical and electrical expertise for maintenance
  18. Collaborate to improve safety, quality, and equipment reliability
  19. Follow corporate policies and standards in maintenance activities
  20. Supervise preventive maintenance schedules and repairs
  21. Report on KPIs and operational metrics
  22. Work from technical documents and obtain materials for repairs
  23. Maintain documentation and suggest cost savings
  24. Perform other duties as assigned
  25. Work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma required; Bachelor's in operations or engineering preferred or relevant experience.

Experience: 5-7 years in technical maintenance, preferably in food packaging or safety, with supervisory experience. Engineering project experience a plus.

Skills: Proficient in MS Office, CMMS, Outlook, etc.
