Job summary

Project Weber/RENEW is seeking a part-time maintenance staff member to maintain PWR properties in Providence, RI. This 20-hour-per-week role pays $22-24 per hour and supports organizational growth with hands-on building trades work.

Responsibilities include general maintenance, inspections, preventative care, scheduling repairs, and coordinating with vendors. Must lift up to 50 lbs, work independently, have basic tools, and be available for occasional emergencies.

Qualifications

• Minimum maintenance/building trades experience.
• Ability to diagnose and repair basic equipment and structures.
• Comfort using email/web for work communications.
• Own basic tools and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Must be physically able to climb ladders and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Flexibility to respond to occasional emergencies.

• Perform general maintenance tasks including landscaping, painting, and carpentry.

Project Weber/RENEW (PWR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide culturally competent, appropriate, and sensitive harm reduction and recovery services to high-risk people, both during street outreach and at the nation’s first drop-in center for male, female, and transgender sex workers.

PWR is seeking a part-time maintenance staff person to help enter and maintain PWR owned properties. PWR is undergoing programmatic, operational and financial growth: this position will help support the organization as it grows.

Essential Job Functions

• Performing general maintenance tasks including landscaping, painting, and carpentry
• Inspecting buildings, equipment, and systems to identify any issues
• Diagnosing/repairing faulty equipment, damaged structures
• Implementing preventative maintenance procedures
• Managing heating and plumbing systems to guarantee functionality
• Planning and scheduling repairs, coordinating with outside vendors to perform repairs
• Conducting periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard
• Maintaining the inventory of equipment and facilities supplies
• Ensuring all work is performed safely and in accordance with safety regulations
• Responding to emergency maintenance requests and resolving issues promptly

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous maintenance experience/building trades experience, understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques, effective problem-solving abilities, should be comfortable using a computer for email and web browsing, good communication skills, should have their own basic tools, reliable transportation, must be able to work independently, must have the ability to prioritize tasks, physically able to climb a ladder, lift up to 50lbs independently. Flexible schedule, should be able to respond to occasional emergency maintenance calls.
