Job summary

Georgia Power at Plant Bowen seeks a Maintenance Specialist responsible for all maintenance activities under System Ownership, including technical support, outage planning, and budget tracking. You will coordinate work orders, support root cause analyses, and lead outage scopes with maintenance crews and contractors, ensuring safety, cost control, and adherence to specifications.

Experience with plant equipment such as transformers, switchyards/isophase, MCCs, breakers 13.8kV–120V, battery/UPS

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of experience in the operations and/or Maintenance of Electric Generating Plants.
• Experience with a supercritical coal fired unit preferred.
• Contract or GPC resource coordination preferred.
• Must possess a thorough understanding of plant equipment, systems, and operation to provide solutions that are cost effective and adequate to meet plant needs.

Responsibilities

• Development and execution of system maintenance strategies
• Monitoring maintenance strategy via preventative maintenance tracking and documenting equipment failures and strategy violations
• Administer the work order management system by prioritizing work orders and coordinating the weekly work plan
• Support and review Root Cause Analyses on system issues
• Tracking and input to budget development and monthly projections for labor, materials, parts, and equipment while managing costs
• Use tools like Maximo, OIS, Word, and Excel to monitor work order progress and resources
• Develop, plan/schedule, and execute outage work scope plans for outages
• Coordinate maintenance crews and contractor personnel with attention to quality, cost, and contract specs
• Analyze critical situations to determine competent solutions
• Support Best Practices Program and share technical guidance with maintenance personnel
• Establish relationships with vendors and SCS personnel; review new/rebuild equipment data
• Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork across departments

System Owner for G & K Systems

Summary of Position Duties

This position will be accountable for all maintenance activities associated with System Ownership which will include technical support, outage planning/scheduling and coordination, routine maintenance planning, project coordination, outage, and baseline budget tracking as well as some capital project management, planning and execution.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Development and execution of system maintenance strategies
• Monitoring maintenance strategy via preventative maintenance tracking as well as documenting equipment failures and maintenance strategy violations
• Administer the work order management system by effectively communicating system needs though the prioritization of work orders, providing detail work scopes, coordination, and execution of the weekly work plan
• Support and review Root Cause Analyses on the system issues
• Responsible for tracking and providing input to budget development and monthly projections regarding contractor labor, material, parts, and equipment needs while efficiently managing costs associated with these resources daily.
• Must have a thorough understanding of relevant computer applications to monitor work order progress, parts status, and labor utilization. Examples of these tools include but are not limited to the following: Maximo, OIS, Word, & Excel
• Responsible for developing, planning/scheduling, and executing outage work scope plans for forced, planned and maintenance outages
• Execute major maintenance or replacement activities by providing specific direction and coordination of assigned maintenance crews and/or contractor personnel while monitoring quality, cost, and adherence to contract specifications
• Analyze critical situations within the System equipment to determine competent solutions to identified problems.
• Support the Best Practices Program by developing and implementing best practices in a timely manner.
• Provide technical direction and expertise to maintenance personnel.
• Establish an ongoing relationship with key vendors and SCS personnel; gather and analyze acceptance data on new/rebuild equipment and stay informed of current technology
• Display effective communication skills and people skills to foster effective working relationships with personnel from all departments

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education Requirements:

• A technical degree or equivalent desired but not required.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements:

• Must possess 2 to 5 years of experience in the operations and/or Maintenance of Electric Generating Plants.
• Operation and/or Maintenance of a supercritical coal fired unit is preferred.
• Previous system ownership and budgeting experience a plus but not required.
• Contract or GPC resource coordination preferred.
• Must possess a thorough understanding of plant equipment, systems, and operation to provide solutions to equipment problems that are cost effective and adequate to meet plant needs.
• Ability to analyze critical situations; determine competent solutions with implementation in a safe and effective manner. Ability to work with people across multiple departments to achieve organizational objectives.
• Must possess effective written and oral communications skills, and exhibit behaviors consistent with Our Values
• Ability to make decisions and demonstrate short/long-term strategic planning skills.
• GPC planning experience preferred but not required.
• Plant Bowen experience preferred in the Electrical & Designated Operating Areas. Experience working on Electrical Systems, such as Transformers, Switchyards/Isophase, Switchgears/MCCs, Breakers from 13.8kv – 120v, Battery Systems, and UPS Systems.
