Job summary

Apex Park and Recreation District is seeking a part-time Maintenance Assistant to support full-time facility maintenance specialists in plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other basic tasks.

The role involves assisting with snow removal, and working Monday-Thursday from 7am to 12pm, in both indoor and outdoor environments. Candidates should be able to lift up to 75 lbs and handle tools safely, with good customer service and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• Must follow safety practices in maintenance tasks.
• Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools.
• Lift 50–75 pounds regularly; up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to work in various indoor/outdoor environments and weather.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use workflow software.

Job description

Position Summary, Duties And Responsibilities

This role provides assistance to full-time facility maintenance specialists in their day-to-day duties. Job duties will include assisting in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other basic maintenance tasks.

• May assist in snow removal, or other tasks within District Services.
• The schedule for this position is Monday-Thursday 7am-12pm.

Job Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe maintenance practices.
• Ability to follow instructions and stay on task.
• Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools necessary to perform basic carpentry, electrical, mechanical & plumbing repairs / maintenance work.
• Be able to lift 50 – 75 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to work in adverse conditions and work on short timetables.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to navigate and operate workflow computer management software(s).

Education and Experience

• Must be 18 or older.
• High School diploma or equivalent or current student.
• Must possess current and valid Colorado driver's license.

Work Environment

• Work may take place in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions including sun, heat, cold, snow, and humidity.
• The position may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, chemically treated water, or other environmental irritants.
• Occasional travel by vehicle may be required, with exposure to traffic, road construction, and varying road conditions.

Physical Activity(s):

• Ability to climb, crawl, or maneuver in tight spaces to complete maintenance or activity-related tasks.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or sit on the floor as needed during activities or tasks.
• Able to reach, grasp, and handle small objects, tools, or equipment with precision.
• Duties may require sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, bending, or stooping for extended periods of time.
