Job DetailsJob Location: Page - St Louis, MO 63114Summary:

The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for improving the results associated with the equipment in the plants by troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing electrical/electronic components (motors, frequency drives, photo eyes, safety devices, etc.), troubleshoot PLC programs and provide general maintenance support. They are the first point of contact for all electrical equipment issues on the shift. The Electrician will independently perform maintenance, troubleshooting, small change management, loss elimination, and improvement activities. They are responsible for maintaining strong working relationships with the Maintenance department as well as external contacts, including: the Compounding Department, Maintenance Planner, Warehouse and Production teams, engineering resources, and other resources in similar roles, etc. The Electrician is expected to communicate in an effective and professional manner both orally and written.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Safety: Compliance with all company safety rules procedures and guidelines are Mandatory.
  • Behavior: Be an active part of the maintenance shift team. A team player with qualities of cooperation and coordination, professional interaction with all business contacts all day, every day. "Can Do" attitude; "Flow to Work" mindset; - able to do what it takes to move the business forward.
  • Attendance: Present for work when scheduled is a mandatory function. Work hours may extend pass normal business hours based on the workload of the department.
  • Quality: Knowledgeable of all Quality control systems and able to troubleshoot quality issues to root cause and correct.
  • Perform electrical trouble shooting of systems and equipment to include repair of electrical circuits and componentry, troubleshoot and repair or replace motors and other electrical components as well as the ability to troubleshoot and repair program issues on controls
  • Perform assembly of electronic components for controls and improvements of production machines. Working knowledge of Controls technologies used at Nice-Pak.
  • Assists in designing and developing electronic controls to enhance production equipment through use of PLCs, various types of input sensors, and pneumatic / electrical output.
  • Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating difficulties; make the necessary repairs and adjustments.
  • Change parts; set up and adjust lines for various products; monitor line as time permits or as directed. Wash out fillers between products and make the necessary adjustments for fillers, cappers, and labelers.
  • Partner with shift mechanic and operators to maintain equipment and operate in a safe manner.
  • Perform routine daily maintenance such as greasing, oiling, changing belts; perform established periodic preventative maintenance.
  • Comply with safety regulations including (but not limited to) Lock Out Tag Out and Electrical Safety.
  • Required to attend daily shift Maintenance / Electrician shift tie in meeting between shifts.
  • Inform Maintenance Planner of parts and equipment used and needed for replacement.
  • Process and store hazardous, flammable material such as nail polish remover, etc. in accordance with established local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Proficient in the tasks as outlined in the SKILL LEVEL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Table.
  • Able to multi-task and handle multiple priorities with or without direct supervision.
  • Work between plant and warehouse local locations as directed.
  • May be required to be On-call for emergency needs 24 hours.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation Requirements:

Requires a technical / business school training of two years in a related field including courses in electrical theory, A/C and D/C, controls/PLCs, industrial electronics.

Experience Requirements:

Requires a minimum of 2 years electrical maintenance/mechanical experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Competencies:
  • Understand and follow electrical safety codes.
  • Must be able to read and work from drawing and schedules.
  • Programming, wiring, conduit installation, circuit troubleshooting, and having bus experience preferred.
  • Skilled in use of use RS Logix5, RS Logix 500, RX Linx and other systems for PLCs preferred.
  • Skilled in building and/or rebuilding control panels, robotic experience and working with complex and advanced automation systems a plus.
  • Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids: Computer, drives, tech manuals, plc’s, phones, use standard electrical measuring equipment such as multi-meters, measuring devices, filler, capper, labeler, and bander, tape machine, unscrambler, drill, grinder.

Work Environment:

Worker is protected from weather conditions but not from temperature changes which may be sufficiently high or low to cause bodily discomfort. Worker exposed to sufficient noise level requiring hearing protection. Worker exposed to a variety of physical conditions such as moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and high heat.

Physical Demands:

Function requires lifting small parts weighing 25 to 60 lbs. by hand. Walking, reaching, grasping, talking, hearing, standing, climbing, and stooping.
