Huhtamaki, Inc. in Ohio is seeking a maintenance technician to safely maintain, repair and optimize plant production equipment, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, electrical work with PLCs, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and assisting with the start-up of new lines in a manufacturing environment. You will support changeovers and work as part of a collaborative team to meet safety and quality goals.

Qualifications

  • Must read and comprehend written and oral instructions and technical data.
  • Proficient at problem solving and troubleshooting complex equipment.
  • Industrial electrical experience including familiarity with PLCs and PC-based controls.
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic experience.
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Own tools and use of all power and non-power hand tools.
  • Capable of extensive repairs without conventional drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Safely maintain, rebuild, repair, move, modify, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on plant production equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on plant equipment and minimize downtime.
  • Repair machines and auxiliary equipment following safety procedures.
  • Relocate and install equipment including electrical, air and water hookup.
  • Participate in production changeovers and adjustments.
  • Assist in checkout, debug and start-up of new equipment.
  • Work with team to meet department and company goals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in work areas; ensure product stream repairs are sanitized.
  • Participate in CI and SQF housekeeping programs.

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Safely maintain, rebuild, repair, move, modify, troubleshoot, adjust, and perform preventive maintenance on all plant production equipment to provide maximum equipment availability.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks as assigned on any and all plant production equipment.
  • Maintain and repair machines and auxiliary equipment following all safety procedures and working efficiently through proper problem solving and troubleshooting of issues.
  • Use all resources available to minimize downtime and maximize running efficiency.
  • Complete records and use reporting system as required for effective performance.
  • Relocate and install equipment, including electrical, air and water hookup.
  • Participate in production changeovers and adjustments.
  • Perform miscellaneous and/or general maintenance work and assist in checkout, debug and start-up of new equipment as required.
  • Work with other employees in a fully supportive team relationship to contribute to the overall goals of the work unit, department, and company.
  • Contribute to the overall cleanliness and safety of work areas, ensuring that any repair associated with the product stream has been cleaned and sanitized using proper procedures.
  • Participate in CI Programs on an annual basis.
  • Participate in SQF Housekeeping and Food Safety Programs and provide plant housekeeping support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions, technical data, blueprints, etc., and the ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Proficient at problem solving and troubleshooting complex equipment issues.
  • Industrial electrical experience including familiarity with PLCs and PC‑based controls.
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic experience.
  • Ability to work with basic PC programs.
  • Can work independently with little supervision.
  • Own tools and have ability to properly use all power and non‑power hand tools.
  • Can make intricate and extensive repairs without aid of conventional drawings.
  • Can operate a forklift and aerial lifts; obtain annual certification.
  • Basic educational level from high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in manufacturing maintenance.
  • Preferred: Basic industrial electrical, hydraulic, and/or pneumatic coursework; electrical controls experience.
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing environment with twisting at waist, bending/stooping, squatting/kneeling, and climbing ladders.
  • Incumbent will lift up to 70 lbs. on a regular basis and lift/carry more than 70 lbs. occasionally.
  • Requires reaching at, above and below shoulder level.
  • Must be able to work on elevated work platforms.
