Your main responsibilities will be performing semi-skilled facility repair and maintenance at multiple agency sites to ensure that the facilities are properly maintained and meet all agency and government standards. Duties may fall into a variety of trade areas, including general maintenance, carpentry, painting, plumbing, mechanical, masonry, energy, custodial, and landscaping. Work is supervised by the Safety & Facilities Manager for adherence to instructions and established standards. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three years of maintenance experience required. Education or training in the facilities maintenance trades may substitute for work experience.
  • Must have basic proficiencies in areas including but not limited to; plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, HVAC; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Driver qualifications are required for this position. Valid driver license, insured vehicle available for use on the job, and a satisfactory drive record for the previous three years are required.
  • Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment.
  • Successful registration with the Office of Child Care Central Background Registry.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrates understanding of repairs and maintenance methods, techniques, materials, tools, equipment, and trades work; proper safety techniques; proper lifting techniques; OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and related information technologies.
  • Must have basic proficiencies in areas including but not limited to; plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, HVAC; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
WHAT YOU WILL DO TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY

This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

  • Follows standard operating procedures for installs, inspects, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance for building systems, plumbing, minor electrical, HVAC, safety systems, waste management systems, and mechanical systems including controls, pumps and motors.
  • Assists in emergencies and closures, including adverse weather conditions, to be certain that all facilities are protected and remain operational.
  • Assists with tasks required in preparing to open sites after closure including snow and ice removal, systems and equipment checks, and start‑up operations as assigned.
  • Assists in the installation, moving, and disposal of furniture and equipment.
  • Maintains the landscaping of agency sites by mowing, edging, and fertilizing lawns; weeding; trimming small trees, hedges, and shrubs removing unwanted, dead, or damaged trees.
  • Periodically inspects buildings, facilities and equipment to ascertain required repairs and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Safely operates an agency vehicle to transport materials, tools and equipment to work sites.
  • Undertakes activities of pest control such as setting traps and spraying pesticide. Maintains appropriate records and reports.
  • Follows agency's purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Performs electronic recordkeeping related to preventative maintenance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

There are no supervisory duties in this position.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, distance vision, close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to frequently reach with hands and arms; regularly required to climb or balance; occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions.
  • Regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for handling equipment.
  • Frequent driving between Agency sites as needed.
  • Ability to make quick and safe decisions with minimal supervision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Indoor and outdoor work environment in a variety of weather (heat, cold, wet) with frequent interruptions and demands.
  • Exposure to trash and potential exposure to street, lots, grounds, crawl spaces, and dirty water or substances, such as sewage and mud.
  • Occasional interaction with the public.
