The Genesee Valley Regional Market Authority is a statutory organization established in 1951 to operate a centrally located food distribution center serving a nine-county region in Western New York. Located on 123 acres in the Town of Henrietta in Monroe County, the Market supports regional commerce and food supply chains. Approximately 190 companies conduct business on the property, creating a dynamic, multi-tenant environment. Revenue is generated through the rental of buildings and land, supporting ongoing operations, facilities, and infrastructure for tenants and visitors.

Role Description

The Maintenance Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Rochester, NY, responsible for maintaining the Market’s buildings, grounds, and equipment. Day-to-day duties include performing routine and corrective maintenance, conducting inspections, identifying issues, and completing repairs on mechanical, electrical, and structural systems. The role involves executing preventive maintenance schedules, responding to service requests, and troubleshooting equipment and facility concerns to minimize downtime. The Maintenance Specialist will also assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal and grounds care, coordinate with vendors and tenants when needed, and follow all safety procedures and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in Maintenance & Repair and general Maintenance of facilities, systems, and infrastructure.
• Experience with Equipment Maintenance, including routine servicing and safe operation of tools and machinery.
• Ability to perform Preventive Maintenance, follow maintenance schedules, and document work completed.
• Competence in Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and building-related issues to identify and resolve problems efficiently.
• Knowledge of basic building trades (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical) and safe work practices.
• Ability to lift moderate loads, work in various weather conditions, and perform physically active tasks throughout the day.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work cooperatively with tenants, vendors, and colleagues.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance or related fields is preferred.
• Prior experience in commercial or industrial facility maintenance is beneficial.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate maintenance vehicles and equipment as required.
