Maintenance Specialist – LiquidPower Specialty Products Inc. (a Berkshire Hathaway Company)

Job Summary

The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance as assigned. Will assist in completing major mechanical outages, performing maintenance training, updating training procedures and manuals, and will be available to the plant whenever necessary. Receives functional guidance from the Mechanical Foreman. Role is not limited to the above listed responsibilities and may include other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Performs daily scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plant mechanical, electrical, and instrument equipment.
  • Assists in planning and implementation of major mechanical outages such as Turnaround, equipment installations, etc.
  • Lead construction projects as assigned.
  • Assists in training of Operations personnel on maintenance procedures as requested by Plant Training Coordinator.
  • Updates and maintains the equipment work order system, plant work instructions and plant equipment catalogs.
  • Maintains support for the facility through active growth in maintenance familiarity and training.
  • Assists with updating all maintenance procedures and work instructions.
  • Meets plant standards in HSE and works with HSE personnel to develop new methods to assure maintenance is accomplished with no safety hazards unrecognized.
  • Maintains housekeeping standards in the maintenance and in in-plant work areas.
  • Responsible for maintenance PSSR final walkdowns as needed.
  • Communicates with plant personnel on all maintenance issues.
  • Available for on-call duties as required by the facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous maintenance, electrical or instrumentation work. Primary focus on mechanical equipment maintenance preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID’s and schematics.
  • Skilled in advanced machining/fabrication preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as needed.
  • Results‑oriented self‑starter with strong sense of customer service.
  • Encourages creativity, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Well‑developed planning/organizational skills. Proactively manage activities and time to balance workload.
  • Ability to work alternate schedules during times of high work volume or turnarounds.

Physical Requirements
  • Lift and carry loads of up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb various ladders and stairs to operate valves, gauge tanks, or perform maintenance on equipment.
  • Walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material on a daily basis on even and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions (heat, humidity, cold, wet).
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
