Job Description

Physical Demands & Working Environment

Usual working space is a well‑ventilated area. The role requires standing, walking, turning, bending, stooping, lifting, and clear speech to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other team members. Fine and gross motor skills are required. The environment can be stressful at times; the ability to work under stressful conditions is necessary.
Lifting up to 50 lbs may be required; items over 50 lbs should be lifted as a team or with a lifting aid.

Essential Job Functions & Key Responsibilities
  • Perform minor and major repair of buildings and equipment, preventive maintenance, and quality audits. Perform grounds upkeep, including debris and/or snow removal. Participate in safety checks and procedures such as fire drills and exit light inspections.
  • Assist with renovation projects, including plaster, drywall, painting, moving equipment, and collaborate with other departments as needed.
  • Respond to emergency situations as requested and handle routine maintenance requests from external departments.
  • Maintain record keeping of systems within the employee’s skill set.
  • Report to the Facilities/Maintenance manager and keep the manager informed of issues encountered.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • May be requested to serve on the QI team.
  • Access email frequently to stay up to date and communicate with staff members.
  • Perform all procedures according to established policies and procedures of OCH, adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Education: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent (may sign a GED agreement to obtain within 6 months).
  • Experience: General maintenance experience, including skills in electricity, HVAC, and plumbing.
  • Preferred Experience: Healthcare maintenance experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to be placed on the OCH insurance policy.
