Job summary

Korn Ferry Military Division has partnered with our client on their search for a Shift Manager (Maintenance), based out of their Pittsburgh PA facility. As a global, industry-leading steelmaker, they offer substantial opportunity for career growth. Compensation: $120,000-140,000 + (DOE)

Shift: Rotating (24/7/365 manufacturing operation)

What You Will Do

Will be responsible for applying engineering principles, troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques to evaluate and make decisions that resolve operational conditions and improve reliability. Supervise, direct, and coordinate efforts of union employees (experienced technicians, craftsmen, and project planners) to repair and maintain mechanical and/or electrical equipment to maximize operating efficiencies and improve reliability. Must be able to effectively engage teams and promote an environment of respect, communication, and collaboration through two-way communication and encouraging new ideas and different perspectives that drive individual, team, and company success.

  • Use technical knowledge, equipment documentation, safety procedures, and maintenance schedules to follow, improve, and develop preventative and routine maintenance programs
  • Assist workers in diagnosing malfunction in machinery and equipment
  • Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance with a team of mechanical/electrical maintenance staff
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assign duties accordingly
  • Maintain proper inventories of required spares in order to provide efficient operations; devise and implement cost saving strategies
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures designed to eliminate maintenance problems and improve product quality
  • Perform administrative activities (scheduling crews, completing reports, conducting safety conversations, and complying other reporting) as necessary
Education and Work Experience
  • At least 4 years US Military Active Duty experience required (Target Profiles: Army Prime Power Prod Specialists (12P), Tactical Power Generation Specialists (91D), Navy EMs (EM/EMN), Air Force Electrical Power Production and Electrical Systems personnel, Marine Corps Electrical Equip Repair Specialists (1142), and Coast Guard Electrician's Mates.
  • Must have experience with high-voltage electrical systems, power generation, substations, switchgear, electrical distribution, motor controls, PLC-controlled equipment, or industrial electrical maintenance.
  • Union workforce leadership is preferred but not required.
