Job summary

DOTD-Engineering & Operations in Louisiana seeks a Maintenance Repair Master to oversee repairs of DOTD facilities, including administration and police buildings, pumping stations, and related grounds. You will perform plumbing, carpentry, HVAC-related tasks, and operate forklifts and heavy equipment as needed, reporting to the Maintenance Foreman.

The role emphasizes hands-on maintenance, safety, and collaboration across trades to keep critical state properties functional for the public.

Qualifications

  • Three years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.
  • Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.
  • Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and assists repairs to buildings owned and operated by DOTD. Make repairs such as but not limited to unclogging drains, plumbing, replace light bulbs, HVAC filters, broken windows, ceiling tiles & floor tiles.
  • Perform repairs to hot water heaters, water fountains, and small equipment such as lawn mowers and weed eaters. Performs carpentry work such as hanging doors, and repair to walls, floors and structures; repairs to water lines; repairs to door locks and door hinges.
  • Performs painting, sanding and scraping on buildings, fences and curbing. May be required to install and/or repair fencing. Required to have knowledge of tools and their operations. Performs pressure washing & graffiti removal. Provide assistance to other trades.

This position serves as the Maintenance Repair Master in the District 02 /Unit 775, Facility Maintenance. The incumbent of this position is responsible for maintenance and repair of the Crescent City Connection (CCC) Administration Building, CCC Police / Maintenance Building, Pumping Station and any other State Property assigned by Foreman to repair or maintain. The incumbent is also required to assist with roadway duties, including but not limited to, pothole repairs, attenuator repairs and cement bollard replacement. The incumbent must be skilled in plumbing and carpentry work. The incumbent must also be proficient to operate some heavy equipment such as forklifts, mowers and front-end loaders. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Foreman.

One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
