Job summary

Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) in Natchitoches, LA, seeks a Maintenance Repairer 2 to maintain the condition, functionality, and good working order of state buildings, facilities, equipment and grounds across multiple trades. You will perform general repairs, plumbing, electrical, HVAC tasks, groundskeeping, and recordkeeping, with supervision.

The role supports a 24/7 residential campus; hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with possible weekends or extended

Qualifications

• Two years of experience or training in building construction trades or related maintenance.
• Completion of a two-year vocational-technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering.
• Twelve semester hours in construction technology, engineering, or a closely related field.
• A valid Louisiana Driver's License is required.

LSMSA is a selective-admission, public residential high school located in Natchitoches, LA. We are looking for a Maintenance Repairer 2 to join our team who takes pride in maintaining the condition, functionality, and good working order of state buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds. This position serves as a semi-skilled or skilled general repairer for general maintenance, preventative maintenance and operational across multiple trades (such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and HVAC) with general supervision. Works closely with other Maintenance Repairers, custodial staff, and supervisors. We are a 24/7 residential school.

To qualify for a Maintenance Repairer 2 with the state, applicants must generally meet one of the following criteria:

• 1. Experience/Training: Two (2) years of experience or training in building construction trades, building constructions trades, building maintenance, mechanical equipment repair, or park/ground maintenance.
• 2. Vocational-Technical Program: Completion of a two-year vocational-technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering.
• 3. College Credit: Twelve (12) semester hours in construction technology, engineering, or a closely related field.
• 4. A valid Louisiana Driver's License is required

Job Duties:

• Building & Facility Maintenance:Make general repairs to interior and exterior building structure, walls, sheetrock, doors, locks, flooring, and furniture.
• Mechanical & Trade Work:
  • Plumbing: Repair or replace leaking faucets, toilets, commodes, sinks, P-traps, water/sewer lines, and valves.
  • Electrical: Replace light fixtures, ballasts, switches, receptacles, and service basic wiring or heaters.
  • HVAC & Equipment: Service and adjust heating, ventilation, air conditioning units, pumps, and water heaters.
• Groundskeeping & Custodial:Frequently perform lawn care, mowing, chemical applications, and general facility cleaning depending
• Recordkeeping & Requisition:Prepare service records, inspect equipment for major repair needs, and possibly estimate required labor and materials
• Other Duties as assigned by your supervisor
