Job summary

McNeese State University is seeking a Maintenance Repairer 1 to perform a range of building and facility maintenance tasks on campus. Responsibilities include basic repairs to interiors/exteriors, and supporting multiple trades such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, HVAC, and automotive shops.

The position emphasizes safety, adherence to schedules, and attention to equipment condition. Applicants should possess relevant experience or coursework and a valid driver's license; overtime

Qualifications

• One year of experience or training in the building trades or related maintenance fields.
• Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or a related mix.

Responsibilities

• Mends interior and exterior building components and maintains furniture and equipment.
• Provide basic maintenance skills across plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, HVAC, and automotive shops.
• Replace and adjust worn belts, plugs, fuses, hoses, etc.
• Check safety and maintenance of small engines.
• Perform routine automotive preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by foreman, supervisor, or director.

The Maintenance Department has a vacancy for a Maintenance Repairer 1 position.

This position is to make minor repairs to buildings, facilities, grounds, locks, light equipment, appliances, or to perform general maintenance in other shop areas in the maintenance in other shop areas in the maintenance department and throughout the campus. This position is also subject to drug testing due to safety and security sensitive work. This position requires a valid driver's license at time of appointment and may require a clear driving record if required to drive on behalf of the University.

One year of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties

• Makes repairs to the interior and exterior of buildings and facilities and maintains furniture and equipment.
• Provide basic maintenance skills to the plumber, carpenter, painter, electrician, HVAC, and automotive shops.
• Replaces and adjusts worn or damaged belts, plugs, fuses, hoses, etc.
• Checks for safety and maintenance of various small engines.
• Performs routine automotive preventive maintenance to cars, vans, trucks, forklifts, etc.
• Performs other duties assigned by the foreman, superintendent, or director.

Probational. This vacancy is being announced as a classified position. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position and considered non-exempt under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and overtime can be mandatory. This position is also subject to drug testing due to safety and security sensitive work. This position requires a driver's license at time of appointment, and may require a clear driving record if required to drive on behalf of the University.
