Job summary

Ohio Department of Public Safety is seeking a Maintenance Repair Worker 2 for the Warren Post. The role performs maintenance, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and grounds keeping duties across state locations. A valid commercial driver’s license is required for operating state equipment.

Typical schedule is full-time with hours 6:00am–3:00pm. Benefits include competitive pay and opportunities for pay increases over the first years of service.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic including addition and subtraction and in reading, writing and speaking common English vocabulary.
• 6 months training or 6 months experience in maintenance repair work (e.g., basic electricity, plumbing, carpentry, masonry repair & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment);
• Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by relevant Ohio codes.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance, replacement, installation & repair of electrical and plumbing equipment.
• Performs carpentry work involving maintenance, alteration &/or repair of buildings, equipment & wood structures.
• Performs basic painting.
• Operates state vehicle to transport equipment, tools, parts, materials & supplies to locations throughout the state or transport vehicle for service/repair.
• Performs minor custodial duties.
• Performs general exterior grounds keeping duties.
• Performs minor maintenance on Division vehicles.

What You'll Do As a Maintenance Repair Worker 2

• Performs maintenance, replacement, installation & repair of electrical and plumbing equipment.
• Performs carpentry work involving maintenance, alteration &/or repair of buildings, equipment & wood structures.
• Performs basic painting.
• Operates state vehicle to transport various equipment, tools, parts, materials & supplies to various locations throughout the state or to transport vehicle to dealership for service or repair.
• Performs minor custodial duties.
• Performs general exterior grounds keeping duties.
• Performs minor maintenance on Division vehicles.
