The Personnel Board of Jefferson County Alabama is seeking a Maintenance Repair Worker to operate, maintain and repair equipment across our facilities, including HVAC, plumbing and lighting systems. You will interpret work orders, assist skilled trades, manage supplies, and ensure safety and reliability of buildings for staff and the public.

Maintenance Repair Workers perform a variety of specialized tasks in operating, maintaining, and repairing equipment common within buildings such as temperature control machinery, plumbing fixtures, and light fixtures. Maintenance Repair Workers commonly use tools such as wrenches, screw drivers, ladders, and multimeters to complete their daily tasks. Work assignments are received through work orders, meetings, blueprints, and verbal instruction. Maintenance Repair Workers sometimes assist Plumbers, Electricians, and Refrigeration/HVAC Technicians regarding building maintenance. The employee keeps the supervisor informed on the progress of assigned tasks.

Job involves moderate physical exertion required for occasional prolonged periods of standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, balancing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Work may involve occasional lifting of items or objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
Work is performed within employer-owned facilities such as offices, workshops, warehouses, or stations. Work involves use of various hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and multimeters. Work requires regular exposure to live electrical circuits and hot water pipes.
