Job summary

Berco in Wisconsin seeks a Maintenance & Reliability Technician to maintain and optimize plant equipment, troubleshoot issues, and support production targets. You will participate in preventive and predictive maintenance, analyze failures, and drive reliability improvements to maximize uptime and product quality.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, relevant technical training, and at least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• Experience with industrial maintenance, automation and electrical systems.
• Familiarity with TPM, OEE, MTBF/MTTR concepts and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment reliability and uptime through preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and perform setup verifications.
• Analyze root causes of failures and implement corrective actions for ongoing improvements.
• Support maintenance inventory, spare parts and startup/commissioning activities.
• Promote safety and teamwork while achieving production targets and quality standards.

Job description

At Berco, we produce mission critical undercarriages for mining, construction, forestry and agriculture machinery. Together with our customers, we create long lasting solutions by combining know-how in design, forging, heat treatment, machining and assembling. We provide undercarriage components to OEMs(Original Equipment Manufacturers) for the first fit of the machines as well as the service parts to OEMs and to the independent Aftermarket.

As a Maintenance & Reliability Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, setting up, and optimizing manufacturing equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role is accountable for maximizing equipment uptime, supporting production targets, improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and eliminating recurring equipment failures through proactive maintenance and reliability practices.

The Maintenance & Reliability Technician works closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure equipment is properly configured, operating within established parameters, and capable of consistently meeting production, quality, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve equipment reliability, availability, and operational performance.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant machinery and equipment.
• Ensure equipment is properly set up and operating within established process parameters.
• Support production goals through rapid problem-solving and effective equipment troubleshooting.
• Analyze and eliminate recurring equipment failures through root cause analysis.
• Improve machine performance, uptime, throughput, and product quality.
• Support OEE improvement initiatives and reliability-centered maintenance activities.
• Maintain facility systems and utilities required for production operations.
• Assist in spare parts management and maintenance inventory control.
• Promote a culture of safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions:

• Ability to independently troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Ability to perform machine setup verification and operational adjustments.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
• Ability to utilize diagnostic equipment including multimeters and precision measurement devices.
• Basic welding and fabrication skills preferred.
• Ability to support equipment startup, commissioning, and production optimization activities.
• Complete all required training programs.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe manner.

Education/Credentials/Certifications

• • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical degree, industrial maintenance certification, electrical certification, or equivalent vocational training preferred.
  • Additional coursework in industrial maintenance, automation, reliability, mechanical systems, or electrical systems preferred.

Length of Experience

• • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with production equipment troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experience supporting reliability or continuous improvement initiatives preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• • Strong understanding of industrial maintenance principles.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance concepts.
  • Familiarity with TPM, OEE, MTBF, and MTTR metrics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
