Job summary

City of Farmington is seeking a Maintenance Technician-Plumber to maintain plumbing and mechanical systems across City facilities. You will work under the Lead Plumber, perform repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance, and supervise staff as needed. This regular full-time position requires a high school diploma or GED, two years of plumbing/maintenance experience, NM licenses within one year, a valid NM driver’s license, and knowledge of plumbing codes.

Mon-Fri 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of experience in plumbing and maintenance.
• Knowledge of Uniform Plumbing and Mechanical Codes.
• Valid New Mexico driver's license with clean record (3 years).
• Must obtain NM Journeyman Plumber and Gas Fitter licenses within 1 year of hire.
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.
• Operate a motor vehicle to support department operations.
• Work under the Lead Plumber; may supervise staff as assigned.
• Repair and maintain plumbing and mechanical equipment in City facilities; perform minor repairs and participate in larger projects.
• Perform plumbing, gas and mechanical installations and remodels from plans and verbal instructions.
• Inspect equipment for defects and perform preventative maintenance.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on motors, boilers, HVAC, and related systems.
• Operate a range of machinery and tools; backhoe, skid-steer, forklift as needed.
