Gatik AI is seeking a Maintenance Planner to manage maintenance activities, recalls, and vehicle logistics for its AV fleet in a remote, travel‑heavy role across North America. You will partner with commercial and R&D teams to maximize uptime and ensure safety, with a focus on compliance and process improvement.
You will coordinate with vendors, upfitters, and internal stakeholders to schedule work, audit orders, and maintain high standards of quality in a growing autonomous trucking environment.
This Maintenance Planner role at Gatik sits at an exciting intersection of traditional fleet operations and cutting-edge autonomous vehicle technology. For professionals with a logistics or fleet background, it offers a rare chance to build domain expertise in AV/autonomous trucking — one of the most heavily invested sectors in tech right now.
Compensation context: No salary is listed, which is a minor yellow flag. Market rates for fleet maintenance planners in the US range from $65,000–$95,000 annually, but AV-focused roles at venture-backed startups often carry a premium of 10–20% plus equity — worth negotiating explicitly.
Culture signals: Gatik is a growth-stage startup (founded 2017, still expanding markets), which means higher impact per person but also higher ambiguity. The emphasis on cross-functional communication and compliance suggests a maturing operations team building out processes — a good sign for those who enjoy building structure from scratch.
Green flag: Being the first to achieve fully driverless commercial deliveries means your work directly supports a historic, defensible product. Red flag: No PTO, benefits, or compensation details are disclosed in the posting.
Gatik, the leader in autonomous middle-mile logistics, is revolutionizing the B2B supply chain with its autonomous transportation-as-a-service (ATaaS) solution and prioritizing safe, consistent deliveries while streamlining freight movement by reducing congestion. The company focuses on short-haul, B2B logistics for Fortune 500 retailers and in 2021 launched the world's first fully driverless commercial transportation service with Walmart. Gatik's Class 3-7 autonomous trucks are commercially deployed across major markets, including Texas, Arkansas, and Ontario, Canada, driving innovation in freight transportation.
The company's proprietary Level 4 autonomous technology, Gatik Carrier™, is custom-built to transport freight safely and efficiently between pick-up and drop-off locations on the middle mile. With robust capabilities in both highway and urban environments, Gatik Carrier™ serves as an all-encompassing solution that integrates advanced software and hardware powering the fleet, facilitating effortless integration into customers' logistics operations.
About the Role
Gatik is looking for a Maintenance Planner to play a pivotal role in maintaining operational excellence, vehicle reliability, and fleet readiness across commercial and R&D operations. In this role, you will lead maintenance activity prioritization, recall and service campaign management, and vehicle logistics orchestration. Reporting to the Director of Fleet and Maintenance Strategy, you will partner closely with commercial, R&D, and transport vendor teams to achieve maximum fleet uptime and operational readiness. You will be instrumental in maintaining strict quality control through Work Order (WO) auditing while driving continuous fleet performance and safety.
This role is remote, but travel is necessary to our sites throughout North America.

What We're Looking For
More About Gatik
Founded in 2017 by experts in autonomous vehicle technology, Gatik has rapidly expanded its presence to Mountain View, Dallas‑Fort Worth, Arkansas, and Toronto. As the first and only company to achieve fully driverless middle-mile commercial deliveries, Gatik holds a unique and defensible position in the AV industry, with a clear trajectory toward sustainable growth and profitability.
We have delivered complete, proprietary AV technology — an integration of software and hardware — to enable earlier successes for our clients in constrained Level 4 autonomy. By choosing the middle mile — with defined point‑to‑point delivery — we have simplified some of the more complex AV challenges, enabling us to achieve full autonomy ahead of competitors. Given extensive knowledge of Gatik's well‑defined, fixed route ODDs and hybrid architecture, we are able to hyper‑optimize our models with exponentially less data, establish gate‑keeping mechanisms to maintain explainability, and ensure continued safety of the system for unmanned operations.
At Gatik, we connect people of extraordinary talent and experience to an opportunity to create a more resilient supply chain and contribute to our environment's sustainability. We are diverse in our backgrounds and perspectives yet united by a bold vision and shared commitment to our values. Our culture emphasizes the importance of collaboration, respect, and agility.
We strive to create a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone feels they have opportunities to succeed and grow because we know that together we can do great things. We are committed to an inclusive and diverse team. We do not discriminate based on race, color, ethnicity, ancestry, national origin, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, marital status, or any legally protected status.
Is this Maintenance Planner role fully remote or office-based? The role is officially remote, but it requires regular travel to Gatik's operational sites across North America, including locations in Texas, Arkansas, and Ontario, Canada. You should expect frequent site visits rather than a fully location-independent setup. What experience is required for the Maintenance Planner position at Gatik? Gatik is looking for 3–5+ years of experience in fleet management, logistics, maintenance coordination, or heavy vehicle operations. Familiarity with DOT/FMCSA inspection requirements and fleet management platforms like Samsara is a plus. Does the job listing mention salary or compensation? No salary information is provided in this job posting. Candidates are encouraged to discuss compensation expectations directly with Gatik's recruiting team during the interview process. Will I need to work with autonomous vehicle technology in this role? Yes. While the role is rooted in traditional fleet maintenance planning, you will coordinate AV‑specific maintenance scheduling, sensor calibration verifications, and fault code (DTC) logging alongside conventional vehicle repair work for Gatik's Level 4 autonomous truck fleet. Which markets or regions does this role cover? The role spans all of Gatik's operational markets, which currently include Texas, Arkansas, and Ontario, Canada, as well as development and build sites. Coordinating truck logistics across these regions is a core part of the job.
