Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a maintenance planning professional to develop detailed work packets, coordinate schedules, and ensure safe, compliant maintenance across a power-related facility. This role emphasizes environmental compliance, cost control, and collaboration with operations, maintenance, and contracted resources.

The candidate will perform field walk-downs, lead outage planning, and drive budget-conscious project execution while reporting to leadership and ensuring reliable equipment

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in power plant, utility, construction, industrial, manufacturing, electrical, maintenance, operations, or related technical environment
  • Proven technical competence and understanding of maintenance, operations, construction, industrial processes
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the field performing job walk-downs and coordinating activities
  • Knowledge of maintenance management systems, project management software, spreadsheets, and word processing applications
  • Ability to encourage teamwork, participation, and individual accountability
  • Understanding of maintenance and work management processes
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future

Responsibilities

  • Develops maintenance plans and work packets with detailed material/parts listings, procedures, drawings, and clearance requests
  • Coordinates maintenance work schedules with operating and maintenance groups to support reliable operations
  • Emphasizes environmental equipment maintenance to comply with permits and procedures and works with crafts/contractors
  • Issues equipment clearance requests with safety focus and communicates to personnel in the ECR process
  • Assumes duties of maintenance supervisor during absences
  • Responds to emergency calls outside normal hours
  • Develops work scopes and bid specs for contracted resources
  • Manages projects with outside contractors and tracks costs to stay within budget
  • Collaborates with Material and Contract Services on procurement and dispute resolution
  • Applies complete cost and labor estimates for maintenance tasks to support planning and budgeting
  • Develops capital and O&M budget initiatives for long-term reliability
  • Assists in outage and maintenance planning for efficient execution
  • Assists operating departments in equipment monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Performs routine field walk-downs to validate work scope, identify hazards, and improve planning

Job description

Responsibilities


  • Develops maintenance plans and work packets at an appropriate level of detail considering the size, complexity, and criticality of the job. Work packets shall consist of material/parts listings, procedures, drawings, and equipment clearance requests

  • Coordinates maintenance work schedules with operating and maintenance groups to ensure maintenance requirements supporting reliable and efficient operations are addressed

  • Places high priority on environmental equipment and systems maintenance to assure compliance with environmental permits and procedures. Emphasizes the commitment to performing all work in compliance with environmental procedures with crafts and contractors

  • Issues accurate equipment clearance requests, understanding the safety aspects of the job and relaying this understanding to personnel involved with the ECR process

  • Assumes duties of maintenance supervisor during absences due to vacation, illness, or special assignment

  • Responds to emergency calls outside of normal scheduled hours

  • Develops work scopes and bid specifications for work performed by contracted resources

  • Manages projects performed by outside contractors in accordance with company procedures. Performs real-time cost tracking of projects to ensure projects are completed within budget

  • Works closely with Material and Contract Services on material and contract labor procurement issues and dispute resolution

  • Applies complete cost and labor estimates for maintenance tasks assigned to crews or backlog work to support work management and budget processes

  • Develops capital and O&M budget initiatives necessary to ensure long‑term reliability of critical equipment and systems

  • Assists in the development of outage and maintenance plans to ensure required work is prepared and can be efficiently executed when opportunities become available

  • Assists operating departments in equipment monitoring and troubleshooting

  • Performs routine field walk‑downs of jobs and equipment to validate work scope, identify hazards, improve work execution, and support accurate planning and scheduling


Qualifications

Required Qualifications


  • 5+ years of experience in a power plant, utility, construction, industrial, manufacturing, electrical, maintenance, operations, or related technical environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Proven technical competence and understanding of maintenance, operations, construction, industrial processes, or related technical disciplines

  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously

  • Willingness and ability to spend significant time in the field performing job walk‑downs and coordinating work activities

  • Knowledge of various computer software packages including maintenance management systems, project management software, spreadsheets, and word processing applications

  • Ability to encourage teamwork, participation, and individual accountability

  • Understanding of and ability to apply maintenance and work management processes

  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future


Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, Business, or a related field, and/or equivalent relevant work experience

  • Experience in power generation, utilities, heavy industrial facilities, electrical systems, manufacturing, or large‑scale construction projects

  • Training in Master Standard Data (application of engineered benchmark standards)

  • Experience planning and coordinating outage, maintenance, construction, or capital project work

  • Experience using enterprise work management and procurement systems such as Maximo, SAP, Ariba, or similar maintenance, asset management, and supply chain platforms
