Job description

The pipe fitter is responsible for the maintenance and construction of small-bore piping, exchanger work, valve work, etc., throughout the refinery, with a focus on long-term reliability. Duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Ability to fabricate and install small bore piping.
2. Work with external contractors as necessary.
3. Install and repair structural equipment.
4. Perform basic maintenance on filters and exchangers.
5. Prioritize safety in all tasks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience working in an industrial environment.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, P&IDs, and procedure manuals.
• Strong collaboration skills working with peers and management.
• Ability to maintain all aspects of the refinery.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

• Ability to bend and install tubing.
• Ability to repair exchangers, valves, sight glasses.
• Ability to clean and replace filters and strainers.
• Ability to clean and repair burners.
• Ability to work inside reactors, towers, and drums.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to negotiate in, on, and around piping at various elevations.
• Navigate vertical ladders and spiral tank stairs.
• Occasional entry into confined spaces through 24" diameter manways.
• Use of air purifying respirators and SCBAs.
• Tolerance for scents from fuels, asphalt loading, welding, painting, and tank cleaning.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
