Job summary

Volunteers of America Southeast, Inc. in Hartselle, AL is hiring Maintenance Personnel. You will assist in maintaining homes, properties, and facilities, perform general repairs, and complete janitorial duties.

The role requires being at least 18, a GED or high school diploma, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs with a valid driver's license. Reports to the Regional Maintenance Director. Starting pay is $17.00 per hour with full-time benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must be able to lift 50–100 pounds and perform general repairs.
• Valid driver’s license and basic maintenance knowledge required.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance staff assists in the set-up and maintenance of homes, properties, and facilities.
• Perform general repairs, maintenance, janitorial duties and related tasks.
• Read and understand instructions for assembling various items.

Position:Maintenance Personnel Location: Hartselle, AL Job Id:9870 # of Openings:2 MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL Status: Full-Time Location: Hartselle, AL Reports To:Regional Maintenance Director FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt (Full-time) Starting Pay: $17.00/hr Brief Overview & Know How Maintenance staff assists in the set-up and maintenance of the homes, properties, and facilities of Volunteers of America Southeast. This position requires a person to be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older with some ability in residential maintenance. A basic knowledge of household repairs when needed. The position requires the ability to do general repairs, maintenance, janitorial duties and other related tasks. High school diploma or GED is required. Maintenance workers must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. and possess a valid driver’s license. Maintenance workers must comply with the vehicle insurance criteria. Successful candidates for Maintenance must be able to meet/perform the following requirements and tasks:

• Be comfortable performing work around elderly, physically challenged, or mentally challenged individuals.
• Climb tall ladders/work from heights.
• Install a window blind.
• Patch and repair sheet rock.
• Read and understand instructions on how to assemble various items.
• Lift 50-100 pounds (ladders, couches, beds.)
• Replace a ballast in a fluorescent light.
• Replace a light fixture or exit light.
• Replace a ceiling fan.
• Replace electrical elements on stove tops or in ovens.
• Unstop a toilet with a plunger or a snake.
• Replace a toilet and everything that goes along with the replacement.
• Take apart a sink drain to clean or unclog it.
• Replace a faucet.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
