The City of Savage is now accepting applications from qualified candidates to fill two, full-time, year-round Maintenance Operator positions in the Streets Division of the Public Works Department. Maintenance Operators work individually and as part of a team to effectively and efficiently maintain the City's streets and other infrastructure for the safe use of Savage residents and the general public.
Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., however the position also requires prompt and consistent response to call-ins on evenings, weekends and holidays for snow and ice operations, as dictated by weather conditions.
Full 2026 Pay Scale: $31.66 to $41.70 per hour. Anticipated Hiring Range: $31.66 to $34.24 per hour.
Desirable Qualifications
The job of Maintenance Operator requires sustained physical work in all types of weather. Position functions require the ability to manually transport awkward and heavy loads over short distances, to stoop, bend and lift overhead, to walk over uneven or snow/ice covered terrain, to manually load and unload heavy loads from trucks and other equipment, and to safely operate a variety of mechanical and power equipment and tools related to general maintenance operations.
Maintenance Operators spend approximately 95% of their work hours in the field and 5% in the City's maintenance facility.
