Job summary

Promega in Madison, WI seeks a Plant Maintenance Support role to manage SAP-based maintenance tasks across Engineering and Facilities. You will schedule work orders, maintain master data, and ensure timely preventive maintenance while coordinating with vendors and driving data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, generate, and monitor SAP notifications and work orders for Plant Maintenance (Engineering and Facilities).
  • Create and maintain SAP Master Data (Functional Locations, Equipment, BOMs, Maintenance Plans).
  • Ensure timely completion of preventive and demand maintenance tasks in SAP.
  • Coordinate vendor service visits as needed.
  • Identify and manage spare parts inventory for storage accuracy.
  • Initiate requisitions for direct and indirect purchases.
  • Measure data collection to support backlog and downtime reporting.
  • Generate reports from SAP data on a regular basis.
  • Create and maintain SOPs and documentation for Plant Maintenance procedures.
  • Collaborate with site EHS leadership to maintain a safe workspace.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate inclusion and ethical/regulatory compliance in daily work.

YOUR ROLE:

This role is a great mix that will allow a candidate to utilize their analytical and technical skills daily to execute continuous improvement projects into the culture while maintaining day to day responsibilities. JOB OBJECTIVE:

Provide technical support in logistics, planning, record-keeping, and management for plant maintenance activities spanning both Engineering and Facilities functions. This includes managing BOM creation and maintenance, facilitating the timely completion of preventive and demand maintenance on production assets, and ensuring work orders opened in SAP are completed on time. Focus primarily on defined maintenance tasks under guidance, with coordination of service visits with established vendors.

CORE DUTIES:
  • 1. Utilize SAP to schedule, generate, and monitor notifications and work orders for Plant Maintenance (Engineering and Facilities).
  • 2. Create and maintain SAP Master Data related to Plant Maintenance such as Functional Locations, Equipment, Bill of Materials (BOMs), Maintenance Strategies, Task Lists, and Maintenance Plans.
  • 3. Facilitate the timely completion of preventive and demand maintenance by ensuring work orders in SAP are completed on time.
  • 4. Coordinate service visits with established vendors as needed.
  • 5. Identify and organize spare parts inventory to ensure accurate and efficient storage.
  • 6. Research and initiate requisitions for direct and indirect purchases to support planned, demand, and project-based maintenance work.
  • 7. Measure and manage data collection to support maintenance backlog and equipment downtime reporting.
  • 8. Generate regularly needed reports from data available in SAP.
  • 9. Create, record, and maintain documentation (SOPs, TRNs, EtQ documents) for Plant Maintenance procedures and records to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • 10. Work closely with site EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) leadership to maintain a safe work environment.
  • 11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1. Associate degree in a relevant field OR 1–3 years of equivalent related experience in engineering, facilities, and/or maintenance.
  • 2. Previous work experience with ERP/CMMS Facilities and Maintenance software module.
  • 3. Demonstrated strong computer, system, and organizational skills.
  • 4. Must be flexible to changing production needs and willing to adjust work schedule as required.
  • 5. Experience working with general contractors and vendors.
  • 6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 7. Ability to work and communicate well with a diversified scientific staff and respond promptly and efficiently to their needs.
  • 8. Independent self-starter with a positive attitude and above-average organizational skills.
  • 9. Demonstrated proficiency in digital tools and technology, including Microsoft applications and mobile platforms, with the ability to adapt and leverage emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to improve efficiency, automation, and collaboration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Facilities Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 2. Previous work experience with SAP CMMS, including knowledge of SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) module functionality.
  • 3. Experience in planning and executing preventive maintenance procedures in a maintenance/manufacturing environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • 1. Must have the ability to move objects ranging in weight up to 50 lbs.
  • 2. Must have the ability to ascend and descend ladders occasionally.
