Job summary

Georgia-Pacific in Zachary, LA, is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright to improve the reliability of our manufacturing systems. The role includes troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining industrial machinery such as paper machines and converting assets.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience, familiarity with SAP CMMS, and the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, weekends, and overtime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years as industrial mechanic/millwright.
• Experience troubleshooting bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, conveyors.
• Experience maintaining, replacing, repairing, and rebuilding pumps, bearings, and seals.
• Experience using a computer for documentation functions.
• Experience operating powered industrial equipment.
• Experience reading mechanical drawings.
• Completion of NCCER millwright certification or accredited program.
• Experience using SAP.
• Machinery Lubrication Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial machinery.
• Perform precision maintenance on paper machines, converting assets and more.
• Contribute to reliability vision by reducing downtime and ensuring equipment runs predictably.
• Execute and improve the lubrication program.
• Adhere to safety and environmental guidelines and participate in safety programs.
• Keep plant equipment in good working order per manuals and policies.
• Expedite repairs of critical equipment to minimize downtime.
• Communicate findings and feedback to colleagues at all levels using reports, emails, and discussions.
• Work weekends, holidays, overtime as needed.
• Work at heights, in confined spaces, and in hot, cold, and wet conditions with hazardous chemicals.
• Lift at least 50 lbs and wear PPE as required.
