Job summary

Washington Mills in Hennepin, IL, is seeking a Full-Time, hourly technician for the 2nd shift (3PM-11PM, M-F). Overtime is available.

The role focuses on safety, equipment repair, installation and maintenance of plant machinery, including conveyors, crushers, heat exchangers, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems. The successful candidate will collaborate within a team, communicate with supervisors and peers, and demonstrate completion of specified welding courses.

Qualifications

• Must complete specified welding courses or equivalents.
• Able to read mechanical blueprints.
• Experience with metal fabrication and machinery maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety standards and provide safety support for team, contractors, and visitors.
• Support ongoing communication within the department and plant organization.
• Repair, adjust, service and install plant equipment and machinery, including conveyors, crushers, heat exchangers, belts and drives, pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Fabricate and maintain metal equipment including guards, covers, ducts, chutes, and attachments for heavy equipment.

• Pay Range: $31.95 per hour, after 180-day probationary period
• Shift & Work Schedule: 2nd Shift, 3PM-11PM M-F

What You'll Do

• Ensure safety standards are met and when needed provide direct safety support for their team, contractors, and visitors
• Offer support for ongoing communication and assistance as needed within the department and plant organization
• Perform plant machine and equipment repair, mechanical adjustment, servicing, overhaul and installation of plant equipment and machinery. This includes but is not limited to conveyors, crushers, heat exchangers, belts and drives, pneumatics & hydraulic units
• Fabrication, installation, and maintenance of metal equipment including guards, covers, ducts, chutes, and attachments for heavy mobile equipment such as loader and excavator buckets

• Be able to maintain an open line of communication with their Supervisor, other members of Plant Management, and Peers
• Have successfully finished the specified courses or their equivalents and provide evidence of completion:

  • Stick, Flat Plate Welding
  • Tig (Hiliarc), Flat Plate Welding
  • Mig (Wire), Flat Plate Welding
  • Gas Weld & Brazing - Flat & Horizontal Welding
