Job summary

OxyChem is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineering Intern to support maintenance, reliability, and capital projects across multiple sites in the United States. You will evaluate maintenance activities, design improvements, and provide engineering support during planned and unplanned outages.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with a graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029, a minimum 2.85 GPA, and a willingness to relocate.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Must have a graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
• Minimum cumulative GPA 2.85 on a 4.0 scale.
• Must be willing to relocate to multiple locations across the United States.

Responsibilities

• Maintain protection of the environment, health, and safety as a priority.
• Evaluate, design, and recommend changes to maintenance activities for reliability and cost reduction.
• Coordinate between Production, Project, Process, and Corporate Engineering on capital projects.
• Develop and implement preventive/predictive maintenance plans; supervise installations.
• Troubleshoot outages, provide technical support, and improve equipment reliability.
