Job summary

Global Cellulose Fibers is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to assist journeyman mechanics in routine maintenance and perform repairs across valves, gaskets, pumps, and more. The role requires basic computer skills, teamwork, and a willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime in an industrial setting.

The position is based at 2449 Stagecoach Rd, Oglethorpe, GA, with an hourly full-time schedule.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older and eligible to work in the U.S.
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Able to function in a team environment.
  • One year experience in Millwright, Machinist, Lubrication, Welding, Automotive Maintenance or Pipefitting.
  • Or one year vocational/technical education in these areas.
  • Must be willing to undergo drug screens and work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Assist journeyman-level mechanics in routine maintenance and perform many duties independently.
  • Duties include replacing valves and gaskets, basic welding, repacking pumps and valves, forklift operations, pipe installations, cylinder repair, pump and motor repairs, and maintenance of rotating assemblies and drive systems.
  • Support quality policy and mill-wide quality efforts to maintain standards.

The Job You Will Perform

The key accountabilities listed below are not to be considered all-inclusive; a team member may be required to perform additional tasks, as directed, based on changing business needs of the company.

  • Assist journeyman-level mechanics in routine maintenance work as well as performing many duties independently.
  • Duties for mechanics include, but are not restricted to, replacing valves & gaskets, basic welding, repacking pumps & valves, forklift operations, screwed pipe & tubing installations, cylinder repair, pump repair & replacement, repair of rotating assemblies, roll repair and replacements, motor replacements, and repair of mechanical drive systems.
Quality Expectations
  • Ensure an understanding of quality policy and support efforts for a positive customer experience.
  • Aid in the execution of mill-wide quality efforts as needed to help maintain mill quality standards.
The Skills You Will Bring
Minimum
  • Must be currently 18 years of age or older
  • Eligible for employment in the U.S.
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to function in a team environment.
AND the following
  • One (1) year experience in any of the following Maintenance Skill Areas: Millwright, Machinist, Lubrication, Welding, Automotive Maintenance or Pipefitting.
Or
  • One (1) year vocational/technical education in any of the following Maintenance Skill Areas: Millwright, Machinist, Lubrication, Welding, Automotive Maintenance or Pipefitting.
Must Be Willing To Meet The Following Requirements
  • Undergo a drug screen for illicit use of drugs as a condition of employment
  • Submit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employment.
  • Work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule
  • Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification
  • Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis
  • Wear required safety equipment
  • Operate or work in industrial conditions (i.e. warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces with proper safety training and safety protection)
Preferred
  • Associate degree in any of the Core Maintenance skills or related disciplines. (Millwright, Machinist, Welding or Pipefitting)
  • Relevant work experience in an industrial environment.
  • Strong math/physics understanding.
  • Instrumentation background on the Instrumentation Electrical side.
