Job summary

The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Vehicle Operations facility in York is seeking a Maintenance Mechanical team member to support production by maintaining automated equipment.

The role requires a journeyperson card or seven years of relevant experience, a high school diploma, and strong mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills. You will work 2nd or 3rd shift and earn $39.79 per hour with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read prints for machine assemblies and layouts.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to breakdowns to minimize downtime and follow escalation processes.
  • Troubleshoot and perform mechanical maintenance on automated equipment.
  • Lubricate, weld repairs, and perform preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Operate CMMS to record work orders and maintenance activity.
  • Train helpers, lead jobs, and participate in TPM programs.

Maintenance Mechanical

Location: YORK

Shift: 2nd or 3rd Shift

Pay Rate: $39.79/hr

The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Vehicle Operations facility in York is our final assembly plant. Employees at York also perform a variety of manufacturing operations, including fabrication, welding, polishing and painting and produce a wide range of current and replacement parts for all models. Join our team as a Maintenance Mechanical.

Prerequisites
  • Journeyperson Card (related to the job opening) and/or Seven years of applicable experience as a qualified machine repair person, toolmaker, or machine tool builder in troubleshooting, machine repair, tool making, machine building, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
  • High School Diploma/GED Required.
  • Basic understanding of electricity and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and utilize prints of machine assembly, layouts, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience in performing basic machine alignment using precision instruments in either metric or English measurement systems.
  • Understanding of tool room equipment, operations associated with drilling, milling, surface grinding, and lathe operations.
  • Experience in maintaining mechanical drives, presses, and basic welding.
  • Basic understanding of PCs and basic PC skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Proven self-starter with a willingness to work in a team environment.
Job Duties
  • Support the production operation by providing immediate response to all breakdowns to minimize equipment downtime and follow all escalation processes as defined.
  • Perform production tasks as necessary or required by the situation.
  • Troubleshoot and perform all required mechanical maintenance on automated equipment.
  • Perform lubrication tasks as necessary.
  • Perform welding repairs as necessary.
  • Understand Mechanical and Hydraulic Presses.
  • Understand Laser cutting equipment.
  • Understand ovens and burner controls.
  • Insure machine availability goals are met by participating in and organizing Root Cause Analysis activities to improve equipment up-time.
  • Assist in training employees in production roles to perform simple maintenance tasks as associated with TPM.
  • Understand Predictive Maintenance technologies and participate in their utilization as necessary.
  • Wear communication device as deemed necessary.
  • Actively participate in any Skills Training Program required.
  • Lockout equipment to be maintained and follow all safety practices and procedures.
  • Wear all required PPE for the task being performed.
  • Perform routine Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities.
  • Utilize the CMMS to record and track work activities including time keeping, historical equipment repairs, and work order/PM closures.
  • Operate necessary material handling equipment to transport supplies to job and to make installations and repairs.
  • Perform routine and customary material handling and housekeeping associated with the job.
  • Instruct helper or apprentice and act as leader on jobs as required.
  • Work eight hours or more and work mandated overtime as required under the guidelines of the current Labor Agreement.
