Job summary

Harley-Davidson Motor Company in York, PA, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanical professional for the 2nd or 3rd shift. The role involves troubleshooting, mechanical maintenance on automated equipment, lubrication, welding repairs, and critical TPM activities to maximize uptime.

The position requires a Journeyperson Card or 7 years of relevant experience, a HS Diploma/GED, electrical knowledge, and the ability to read prints. Safety, teamwork, and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Card or seven years of experience as a qualified machine repair person, toolmaker, or machine tool builder in troubleshooting, machine repair, tool making, machine building, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Basic understanding of electricity and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and utilize prints of machine assembly, layouts, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience in performing basic machine alignment using precision instruments in either metric or English measurement systems.
  • Understanding of tool room equipment, operations associated with drilling, milling, surface grinding, and lathe operations.
  • Experience in maintaining mechanical drives, presses, and basic welding.
  • Basic understanding of PCs and basic PC skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with a willingness to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate response to all breakdowns to minimize downtime and follow escalation processes.
  • Perform production tasks as required by the situation.
  • Troubleshoot and perform mechanical maintenance on automated equipment.
  • Conduct lubrication tasks as necessary.
  • Weld repairs as needed.
  • Understand mechanical and hydraulic presses, laser cutting equipment, ovens and burner controls.
  • Support TPM by participating in root cause analysis to improve uptime.
  • Assist in training employees in production roles and simple maintenance tasks.
  • Apply predictive maintenance technologies as appropriate.
  • Follow safety practices and wear PPE.
  • Record work activities in the CMMS and manage PM closures.
  • Operate material handling equipment to transport supplies and perform install/repair work.
  • Maintain housekeeping related to the job.
  • Instruct helpers or apprentices and lead jobs as required.
  • Work eight hours or more with overtime as required under the Labor Agreement.

The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Vehicle Operations facility in York is our final assembly plant. Employees at York also perform a variety of manufacturing operations, including fabrication, welding, polishing and painting and produce a wide range of current and replacement parts for all models. SPECIFIC DUTIES
Prerequisites:

Job Duties:
  • Support the production operation by providing immediate response to all breakdowns to minimize equipment downtime and follow all escalation processes as defined.
  • Ability to perform production tasks as necessary or required by the situation.
  • Troubleshoot and perform all required mechanical maintenance on automated equipment.
  • Performs lubrication tasks as necessary
  • Performs welding repairs as necessary.
  • Understanding of Mechanical and Hydraulic Presses
  • Understanding of Laser cutting equipment
  • Understanding of ovens and burner controls
  • Insure machine availability goals are met by participating in and organizing Root Cause Analysis activities to improve equipment up-time.
  • Assists in training employees in production roles to perform simple maintenance tasks as associated with TPM.
  • Understand Predictive Maintenance technologies in order to understand when they apply to problems and participate in utilizing them as deemed necessary
  • Actively participate in any Skills Training Program required
  • Lockout equipment to be maintained and follow all safety practices and procedures.
  • Wears all required PPE for task being performed
  • Perform routine Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities.
  • Utilize the CMMS to record and track work activities including time keeping, historical equipment repairs and work order/PM closures
  • Operates necessary material handling equipment to transport supplies to job and to make installations and repairs.
  • Perform routine and customary material handling and housekeeping associated with the job.
  • Instructs helper or apprentice and acts as leader on jobs as required.
  • Must be able to work eight hours or more and work mandated overtime as required under the guidelines of the current Labor Agreement
