Job summary

Henry County Water Authority is seeking an entry-level maintenance technician to perform a wide range of duties across wastewater, water production, and distribution facilities. You will service equipment, install and repair piping, and maintain records following established checklists.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 6 months to 1 year of related experience, and a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure equipment runs smoothly and facilities remain in good condition.
• Assist in repairing, maintaining, overhauling, and troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment at water production facilities and pump stations.
• Inspects motors, pumps, blowers, drives, belts and other equipment; checks fluid levels and replaces filters as needed.
• Uses hand and power tools and precision measuring instruments to diagnose and repair.
• Assembles, installs and repairs piping systems, machinery and equipment.
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts.
• Maintains maintenance records for equipment and facilities.
• Follows confined space entry procedures and basic first aid knowledge.
• Reads O&M and technical manuals to diagnose issues and locate parts.
• Follows safety regulations for the trade.

Summary

Under supervision and direction, performs a wide variety of skilled entry level duties in the maintenance, repair, modification, and installation of process and non-process equipment, buildings, grounds and facilities at Wastewater Treatment facilities and Collection System Pump Stations, Water Production facilities, Tank sites & remote Pump Stations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that equipment continues to run smoothly,building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of equipment, buildings, andstructures does not deteriorate.
• Assist in repairing, maintaining, overhauling, and troubleshooting relevant mechanical, hydraulic, andelectrical equipment components of process and non-process in Water Production facilities anddistribution system pump stations & tank sites such as centrifugal, submersible, diaphragm metering,& progressive cavity pumps, motors, gear reducers, blowers, valves & valve actuators, conveyorsystems, air compressors, pipes, tubes, rods, seals, shafts, stuffing boxes, bearings, couplings, andother processing equipment.
• Inspects motors, pumps, blowers, drives, and belts, checks and maintains fluid levels, cleans/replacesfilter elements, and performs other maintenance actions following checklists.
• Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches,saws, hoists, drills, weed eater, push & riding mowers, blowers, hedge trimmer, and pressure washer,to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
• Assemble, install and/or repair pipe systems and plumbing, machinery and equipment.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of equipment and machinery.
• Maintains preventive and corrective maintenance records of equipment, buildings and structures, andspecial projects.
• Knowledge of confined space entry procedures and basic first aid.
• Uses O & M and technical manuals to help diagnose problems, and/or look up repair parts.
• Use safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to trade.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Georgia Driver's License.
