Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical training preferred.
• 1+ years mechanical and electrical experience required.
• 2+ years thermoforming, extrusion, or injection molding experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Maintenance Mechanic in ensuring machinery and utilities run at peak performance.
• Repair and maintain plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems in the building.
• Assist design and fabrication of cooling fixtures for process parts.
• Diagnose problems, replace parts, and test repairs.
• Learn preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Support installation/removal of equipment as needed.
• Maintain 5S and shop cleanliness; ensure MIOSHA safety compliance.

Job Title:

Maintenance Mechanic – I

Job Summary:

Maintenance Mechanic Level I is a position for the Maintenance Department. The individual will be responsible for performing minor general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property structures following MIOSHA safety rules and regulations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assist Maintenance Mechanic on assuring manufacturing machines and all utilities equipment function at top performance levels.
• Evaluate, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems in the building.
• Assist in design and fabrication of cooling fixtures for process parts.
• Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test.
• Learn about how to conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to eliminate machine downtime.
• Assist in installation/removal of equipment and machines as needed.
• Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
• Assure all processes for Maintenance are implemented and documentation maintained.
• Maintain 5S and shop cleanliness while effectively performing maintenance job duties.
• Maintain and assure a safe workplace and compliance with MIOSHA and Company safety standards.
• Assist Maintenance Mechanic with Work Orders on equipment.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Able to understand mechanical processes. Has ability to identify and implement improvements in production processes.
• Can acquire, analyze, interpret information in a logical manner and implement change as required.
• Able to organize and prioritize activities to completion to reach departmental and company goals.
• Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion with minimal supervision.
• Problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible mentality.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Understands the importance of teamwork and is able to foster an environment for teamwork.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Technical Training preferred.
• 1+ years of Mechanical and Electrical experience required.
• 2+ years of Thermoforming, Extrusion, or Injection Molding required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Physical Requirements

• Physically capable of lifting 50lbs unassisted.
• Able to work in a manufacturing plant environment.
• Pass an extensive drug screening process.
• Must be able to bend, stretch, squat, and climb to access all parts of the machine.
