Maintenance Mechanic – Utility Distribution Operations and Maintenance
Location: Washington, DC | Capitol Power Plant
LAUKOA is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform general equipment and facility maintenance and support utility distribution repairs at the Capitol Power Plant. This is a full-time assignment during the Monday–Friday day shift, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Perform general maintenance and repairs involving plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors as assigned and authorized.
Repair or replace exhaust fan motors and maintain equipment and machinery.
Repair concrete floors and steps; hang doors and install door locks.
Assist with plumbing, steam, and chilled water distribution work.
Identify equipment deficiencies and prioritize assigned maintenance tasks.
Enter maintenance reports and photographs into TMA.
Maintain familiarity with the Emergency Operating Plan and support assigned emergency response activities.
At least three (3) years of experience within the past five (5) years as a Maintenance Mechanic in facilities of comparable complexity.
Ability to identify common causes of utility, electrical, and mechanical failures and understand technical drawings and specifications.
Ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritize tasks.
Obtain and maintain tunnel-entry certificates in asbestos awareness, permit-required confined space, and heat stress prevention; maintain annual refreshers for asbestos awareness and heat stress prevention.
Practical knowledge of general equipment and facility maintenance across plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work.
Ability to assist qualified trades personnel with steam and chilled water distribution repairs.
Ability to document maintenance work accurately and follow established safety procedures.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and the CMMS tools needed for assigned duties.
Effective listening, business writing, and verbal communication; ability to adapt to shifting priorities and coordinate with stakeholders.
Must receive favorable United States Capitol Police screening and complete required fingerprinting, photography, and badging before unescorted site work.
Must satisfy employment-authorization verification through E-Verify and comply with site access and identification requirements.
Ability to perform the essential duties and access assigned work areas, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to conduct assigned inspections or maintenance in utility tunnels and mechanical areas, including hot, damp, low-light conditions and permit-required confined spaces.
Ability to follow required entry procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
Between $41.34 - $63.12 per hour (included is $5.42 for Health & Welfare)
