Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production, processing, and packaging equipment. You will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, read schematics, and assist with new equipment installations.

On a 2nd or 3rd shift, you will work with a team to minimize downtime, document repairs clearly, and comply with GMP and safety regulations. A trade-school background and hands-on experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from trade/technical school preferred in electrical/mechanical fields.
  • 2–4 years of maintenance/electrical equipment experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems preferred.
  • Certification and/or license may be required during employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on production, processing, and packaging equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance; routine inspections of equipment for reliability and performance.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders.
  • Support the installation of new equipment.
  • Assist operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Complete work orders in a timely manner, while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
  • Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees and notify them of problems that may restrict production efficiency.
  • Ensure all repairs are documented and paperwork is complete per SOPs.
  • Stay up to date on new products, equipment, technology and techniques.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
