General Position Description

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

Description Of Essential Job Functions

• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Dismantles devices to gain access and remove defective parts
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
• Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirement
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments
• Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and cleans parts
• Starts devices to test their performance
• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder and other metal working tools to make and repair parts
• Initiates purchase order of parts and machines. Repairs electronic equipment
• Uses sound troubleshooting techniques to determine “root cause” solutions.
• Documents repair actions on a daily basis.
• Performs all other tasks as necessary to maintain plant equipment and property.

Education And /or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to seven years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Abitiy to write routine reports and correspondences. Ability to speak effectively with employees or groups of employees of organization

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add / subtract, multiply/divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret drawings and graphs
