Job summary

Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance and repairs across campus facilities and equipment. The role supports electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, and groundskeeping tasks under the Safety and Facilities department.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing or electrical or mechanical equipment.
• Vocational/technical training in mechanical repair or one of the building trades can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for a year by year basis

Responsibilities

• Repairs, maintains, and performs preventative maintenance on electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, paint, concrete/roadway, groundskeeping, pressure washing, and other mechanical equipment.
• Assists various trades as needed under the discretion of Assistant Director of Facilities. Works with supervision to plan and execute repairs.
• Communicates progression and status of project to supervisor.
• Maintains accurate records of attendance and work orders by documenting all reports.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
