Pratt & Whitney in Middletown, CT is seeking Maintenance Mechanics for the 2nd shift (5x8) to install, inspect, maintain, overhaul, and repair facilities, engine support systems and equipment, including welding and rigging tasks on site.

Under supervision you will obtain tools and materials, perform component installation and preventive maintenance, assist senior technicians on complex projects, read drawings, and apply mathematics for accurate measurements; prior hand tool use and machine

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mechanical equipment and mechanisms, hoisting and rigging techniques.
• Some carpentry knowledge.
• Ability to read drawings and apply mathematics for measurements.
• Equivalent to 2-3 years trades training plus 1-2 years experience.
• Prior experience with hand tools and diagnosing/repairing machines.

The Engine Center in Middletown, CT has an immediate opening for Maintenance Mechanics on 2nd (5x8) shift.

Function: Perform the mechanical work necessary to install, inspect, maintain, overhaul, and repair facilities, engine assembly, and test support systems and equipment including construction, including welding and rigging, as assigned.

What You Will Do:

• Under direction of Leader/Supervisor follow specific instructions and standard trade practices to obtain tools, material and equipment for carrying out work assignments on mechanical systems, control devices and related equipment.
• Perform component installation, system maintenance and repair work as assigned and carry out preventive maintenance and service as required.
• Assist others responsible for complex installation, overhaul and repair projects in preparing materials and operating equipment.
• Perform similar duties throughout the facility within the scope and skill level of this job description.
• Assist other trades working on joint projects where common skill crossover provides the opportunity for shared responsibilities and more effective use of available skills.
• May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals' skills.

Qualifications:

• Requires knowledge of mechanical equipment and mechanisms, hoisting and rigging techniques, hoisting and rigging systems, and piping systems.
• Some knowledge of carpentry desired.
• Must be able to read drawings and use mathematics as needed for a variety of measurements consistent with the trade.
• Equivalent to 2-3 years trades training.
• Plus 1-2 years’ experience.
• Preferred candidate must have prior experience in operating hand tools, and troubleshooting / repairing machines / equipment.
• In compliance with the collective bargaining agreement, priority consideration is given to candidates who are INTERNAL (and recall) to the Pratt & Whitney IAM Bargaining Unit members of District Lodge 26 and Affiliated Locals 700 and 1746 (Connecticut Operations).
