Job summary

BiOrigin Specialty Products is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic – Millwright for our Menominee, MI paper mill. You will maintain and repair machinery, ensuring continuous 24/7 operations and high-quality production. You will be trained in related skills and may assist other trades as needed.

Qualified candidates will hold a millwright license (433A), with welding skills preferred. Overtime and call-ins are required to meet production demands.

Qualifications

• Degree from Technical school or certified Journeyman required.
• Four to five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination.
• Must be able to perform and adapt to various maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Change a pump element, replace couplings, change out reducers/gearboxes.
• Inspect and repair/replace conveyor pulleys, belts, chains, sheaves, and sprockets.
• Paper Machine roll changes.
• Replace and repair hydraulic/pneumatic cylinders.
• Fabrication work such as brackets.
• Alignment and rigging.
• Support 24/7 continuous operation of the paper mill.

Maintenance Mechanic - Millwright

In this role, you will be crucial in maintaining and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment, ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently. SUMMARY

Working within a team-based maintenance department, your responsibilities will include effective troubleshooting, repair, installations and preventative maintenance of the facility and equipment, essential in the 24-hour operation of the Paper Mill. Employees will be trained in other skills such as machinist, pipefitter, and welding to be qualified as a Maintenance Technician and will be expected to assist other trades as required.

Employee must have a millwright license (433A), and preference will be made to those that have welding skills.

Ability to work overtime/ call-ins is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Change a pump element, replace couplings, change out reducers/gearboxes
• Inspect and repair/replace conveyor pulleys, belts, chains, sheaves, and sprockets
• Paper Machine roll changes
• Replace and repair hydraulic/pneumatic cylinders
• Fabrication work such as brackets
• Alignment and rigging
• Work closely with other maintenance team members to ensure the smooth running of the plant in a 24/7 continuous operation environment
• Oxy/Acetylene cutting and burning
• Stick, TIG and MIG welding

Machinist Skills

• Lathe operation and drill press use
• Able to use calipers, micrometers (inside and out), dial indicators, etc.
• Read sketches and blueprints
• Milling machine operation – keyways
• Shop saw operation
• Repack and change valves
• Fabricate/repair threaded piping
• Disconnect piping to change out equipment and reconnect
• Replace gaskets
• Basic hydraulic/pneumatic troubleshooting and repair

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION:

• Degree from Technical school / Certified Journeyman required; with four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures.
• Ability to write correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Physical demands and Working conditions:

• Must be able to lift 50lbs and lift up to 100lbs with assistance.
• Physical demands include standing for long periods of time, walking, using hands and arms to handle, feel or reach, climb, balance, stoop, knee, crouch, and/or crawl in confined spaces.
• Exposure to moderate frequent noise and occasional loud noise, dust, heat, cold, dry and damp air.
