Job summary

A maintenance technician position focusing on repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment across production lines. Responsibilities include inspection, disassembly, parts replacement, lubrication, and test runs to verify performance.

The role requires working with hydraulic systems, metalworking tools, and electrical schematics, plus the ability to interpret manuals and safety rules. Flexible to assist with installation and inventory optimization.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent; or 3 years related experience or training.
• Ability to read safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
• Ability to calculate simple figures and apply basic algebra/geometry.

Responsibilities

• Observe devices in operation to ensure performance per specifications.
• Set up and operate lathes, drill presses, grinders and related tools.
• Dismantle devices to access and replace defective parts; inspect parts for wear.
• Repair or replace defective parts and install new components.
• Lubricate and clean parts; test devices after repairs.
• Advise maintenance manager on parts to order; maintain inventory to reduce downtime.
• Understand electrical schematics and troubleshoot accordingly.

Summary: Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tolls, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following; other duties may be assigned.

• Observes mechanical devices in operation to insure performance is in accordance with equipment specifications.
• Understands production machines driven by hydraulic pressure.
• Understands the set-up and operation of lathes, drill presses, grinders and other metalworking tools in order to maintain and repair such equipment.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
• Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts.
• Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Lubricates and cleans parts.
• Starts devices to test their performances.
• Assists with the dismantling and or installation of equipment.
• Advises Maintenance Mgr. of parts needing to be ordered.
• Recommends components to be maintained in inventory in order to reduce down time of equipment.
• Is able to evaluate PLC’s, PC’s, servo drives by testing using a multi-meter and identifying problems and repair or replace needed parts.
• Must understand electrical schematics.

Education and Experience

• Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual. Ability to write routine reports.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
