Job Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining our SHA's seamless operation and prolonged life of residential units, office buildings, and equipment. Your main duties will involve conducting routine inspections, performing preventive maintenance tasks, and executing necessary repairs to enhance efficiency while upholding safety standards.

Education / Certification Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience Requirements

2 - 3 years of experience in maintenance or a related field.

Qualifications

This position requires a valid Florida driver’s license and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., drive a pickup truck or van, and be insurable under the agency's fleet auto insurance. In addition, the person must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must achieve the SHA/STC Maintenance Mechanic II certification within six (6) months of employment.

  7. Proficient execution of painting tasks, contributing to both maintenance and aesthetic enhancements.
  8. Leadership in advanced HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting, and system upgrades with a high level of expertise.
  9. Leading and participating in advanced facility and building maintenance, ensuring safety, functionality, and adherence to quality standards.
  10. Proficiency in leading maintenance teams, coordinating tasks, and managing renovation projects from conception to completion.
  11. Strong communication abilities to interact effectively with residents, staff, and team members, ensuring clear understanding and collaboration.
  12. Exceptional organizational skills to manage and prioritize tasks efficiently, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to timelines.
  13. Aptitude for analyzing and solving complex issues related to maintenance projects and renovations.

Duties/Responsibilities of Position
  1. Follows established preventive maintenance schedules and conducts planned inspections and maintenance on residential units, office facilities, and equipment.
  2. Proactively identify and rectify potential issues to forestall breakdowns, anticipating the replacement of worn or faulty parts.
  3. Inspect components to ensure peak performance and prolonged lifespan.
  4. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems in machinery.
  5. Effect repairs and adjustments to bring equipment back to optimal working condition.
  6. Collaborate with the maintenance team for intricate troubleshooting using tools and diagnostic equipment, ensuring effective solutions.
  7. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  8. Adhere strictly to safety protocols during maintenance tasks.
  9. Recognize and address safety hazards related to machinery.
  10. Actively pursue opportunities to enhance equipment performance and reduce operating costs.
  11. Share knowledge and best practices with team members to elevate overall performance.
  12. Attain NSPIRE Certification and continually undergo training in inspection protocols.
  13. Attends training as necessary to build skill sets to progress to the next maintenance skill level.
  14. Attend departmental and Authority-wide staff meetings and workshops, locally and out of town, as required.
  15. Perform and assume other duties as assigned.
Demands/Environment

Work primarily involves hands‑on and physically demanding tasks related to repairing and maintaining residential units. This includes lifting heavy objects, using various tools, and being actively engaged in indoor and outdoor activities. The trainee can expect exposure to different weather conditions during outdoor work, potential exposure to dust and chemicals, and may work in confined spaces within residential units. The job setting involves on‑site visits for inspections and repairs, collaborative work with the maintenance team, and participation in training sessions or workshops for skill development.
