Job summary

Armstrong World Industries in Marietta, PA is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment. Qualifications

  • 3+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing/plant setting.
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment.
  • Self-directed with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform precision tasks with lasers and dial indicators.
  • Willingness to train in basic electrical troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of repair/installation of mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance practices (vibration/ultrasound) preferred.

  • Assemble, install, dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose and correct mechanical malfunctions to meet production needs.
  • Service equipment such as conveyors, paint booths, gas-fired dryers, robotic palletizers, and dust collectors.
  • Execute scheduled predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance.
  • Utilize hand tools and shop equipment; manage tools and storeroom parts.
  • Follow prints and instructions; maintain safety and efficiency.

Armstrong World Industries, Inc. is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to support manufacturing operations at our plant in Marietta, PA. The plant manufactures mineral fiber ceiling tiles in a 24/7 fast paced environment. This position will be responsible for ensuring that the plant meets its key performance metrics and goals for safety, quality, throughput, delivery and cost. Must be able to work shifts including nights and weekends.

You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic processes and systems. You will work with operators, mechanics, electricians and engineers to solve manufacturing problems.

Specific job duties include:
  • Assemble, install, dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical equipment as necessary.
  • Diagnose and correct mechanical malfunctions so as to maintain equipment in a state of operating effectiveness and to meet production requirements
  • Work on mechanical equipment such as powered conveyors, paint booths, gas fired dryers, robotic palletizers, dust collectors, pump systems, etc…
  • You will execute predictive, preventative and corrective maintenance as scheduled.
  • Use a variety of hand and portablepower tools, along with shop equipment such as drill press, hack saw, grinder, lathe, etc.
  • Requisition and procurerequired materials fromstoreroom.
  • Work from prints, sketches and other written or verbal instructions.
  • Maintain personal work tools
  • Perform other related miscellaneous duties as required

The position is expected to cover for shift work vacancies as necessary whichmay include nights and weekends.

Requirements:
  • We require at least 3 years relevant mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing/plant environment,
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment;
  • Ability to be self-directed and work with limited supervision;
  • Ability to perform precision tasks including alignments using lasers, dial indicators, etc.
  • Ability to be trained on basic maintenance electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the repair / installation of mechanical equipment;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of predictive maintenance practices (vibration, ultrasound, etc.) desired.
Preferred requirements:
  • Journeyman certification as an Industrial Mechanic or Millwright
  • Five plus years of Plant Mechanical Maintenance experience.
