Job summary

Armstrong World Industries is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Ceilings plant in Marietta, PA. This role supports manufacturing equipment, maintenance systems, and production processes while driving lean initiatives to reduce waste.

The successful candidate will lead capital projects, manage PLC-based systems, and collaborate across teams to improve reliability and performance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills.
  • PLC and HMI programming experience with the Rockwell suite of products.
  • Experience with Wonderware application programming and support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical engineering support for manufacturing equipment, maintenance, and production processes.
  • Manage plant capital projects with emphasis on PLC-based systems.
  • Identify and resolve electrical issues affecting reliability and performance.
  • Investigate manufacturing problems and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop concepts and budget estimates for new electrical projects and improvements.
  • Assist in vendor bid packages and final vendor selection for parts and services.
  • Execute capital projects with cost, schedule, and performance goals.
  • Apply Precision Maintenance concepts.
  • Educate plant personnel on electrical engineering topics.
  • Coordinate training and start-up activities for new equipment.
  • Participate in Lean kaizen events to drive improvement.
  • Provide status updates on project progress and issues.

The estimated base salary range for this role is “$90,000 to $120,000” per year. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors

Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI) has a job opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to be located at our Ceilings plant in Marietta, PA. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering and technical services to support the manufacturing equipment, maintenance systems, and production processes. Additionally, they will play a critical role in our lean efforts as we continuously strive to improve our processes and reduce waste. In our fast paced and dynamic environment, you will take on and execute electrical projects and studies of significant importance, scope, and complexity.

What will you do?
  • Provide electrical engineering and technical assistance to the manufacturing plant in terms of equipment, maintenance, and production processes and systems
  • Manage plant capital projects with an emphasis on PLC based systems.
  • Participate in identifying and resolving common cause and special cause electrical issues that impact plant reliability and performance.
  • Investigate manufacturing problems in the plant and recommend corrective actions
  • Develop preliminary concepts and budgetary capital estimates for new electrical products, projects, and improvements
  • Assist in and/or develop vendor bid packages and final vendor selection for purchased parts and services
  • Execute capital projects, ensuring cost, schedule, and performance goals are met or exceeded
  • Apply Precision Maintenance concepts and principals
  • Educate plant personnel on electrical engineering and technical issues to ensure their knowledge and understanding
  • Coordinate training and start-up activities of new equipment and processes
  • Participate in Lean efforts, such as kaizen events, where an emphasis is placed on creativity before capital investment
  • Provide status updates on project progress and issues
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills
  • PLC and HMI programming experience with the Rockwell suite of products
  • Experience with Wonderware application programming and support
